RFQ No. 20-10-01 Professional Engineering and Architectural Services for Pedestrian Bridge with Park Elements Across A1A at 174th St. CCNA
City of Sunny Isles Beach
76|
QUALIFICATION INFORMATION & ASSIGNED PERSONNEL
This project was part of TxDOT’s initiative to expand the I-35 corridor to a minimum of three lanes in each direction for approximately ten miles, with
uninterrupted access roads from San Antonio to the I-35 split North of Hillsboro The new bridges are the first use of an “extradosed” design by TxDOT,
and to-date it is reported to be only the third location to use an extradosed bridge design in the United States. This unique design serves as a landmark
for the region. The new bridges fulfill the City of Waco’s aesthetic requirements, creating a one-way continuous frontage road crossing over the Brazos
River including sidewalks and overlooks for pedestrians, creating additional ramps and U-turns at selected crossings, and provides access to the future
Baylor University sports complex. FINLEY provided construction engineering services for the two bridges. The bridges are 620 ft. long, with a 250 ft.
main span that include steel beams working in conjunction with pylons anchored by shallow-angled cables. The project was completed 4-1/2 months
ahead of schedule.
Relevance: This is one of the several out of the state FINLEY’s projects that combine unique structural aesthetically pleasing solutions with an
innovative construction engineering approach to expedite the construction schedule.
