APPROACH TO PROJECT ISSUES
Each of the numerous bridges successfully delivered by H&H had unique challenges. Our proven bridge
project delivery methodology includes an integrated design approach which considers function, design
parameters, and constructability at each step. We innovate wherever it is advantageous to bring value to
each project using practical techniques – innovation; not experimentation.
Key strategies to successfully deliver the Bridge Park project include:
Use of structurally redundant systems

Use of durable materials and systems

Integration of function, design, and constructability

Planning and execution of FDOT and City processes

Ease of inspectability and maintainability

Bridge Park Aesthetics

SITE & GEOMETRIC CONSTRAINTS
From our site visits and our understanding of bridge development
processes, we have identified the following site and geometric
constraints:
Roadway
At this location, Collins Avenue is a State-owned 6-lane median
separated non-SIS Urban Principal Arterial with a posted speed of 35
mph. Sidewalks on either side of the roadway are heavily travelled
by pedestrians.
Lateral offset
The bridge piers need to be placed 16 feet clear of the travel lanes
(FDOT FDM Table 215.2.2).
Bridge Vertical Clearance
The minimum new bridge vertical clearance over Collins Avenue is
17.5 feet (FDOT FDM Table 260.6.1). The clearance needs to include
a horizontally mounted signal head resulting in a bridge low member
clearance of 20 feet.

Combined Easement Plan
Icons are placed throughout
document to underscore the
key strategies.
