24. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Includes scope, size, and cost)
FR Aleman provided as-needed surveying and mapping services to the City of Miami Beach in this multi-task, multi-year
survey and subsurface utility engineering (SUE) contract. Tasks included preliminary engineering surveys (establishing
benchmarks, horizontal control using existing right-of-way, locating all improvements and culture, measuring distances and
angles, measuring elevations of existing improvements, and miscellaneous office calculations); Boundary Surveys (locating all
public land corners, street monumentation, property corners, and gathering of parcel evidence as required to determine the
existing land lines and/or right-of-way lines); Legal Descriptions; Engineering; Right-of-Way Survey; Specific Purpose Survey;
Topographical Surveys; General Land and Aerial Photography Surveying Services; Coastal Construction Control Line; Mean High
Water Line; Submerged/Filled Lands; GPS and GPR Surveys; and Horizontal and Vertical Control Points.
On a task work order, FR Aleman provided Elevation Certificates for 18 of the City of Miami’s properties, including the police
sub station, fire station, community center, and a garden center and conservatory, among others.
A1A Topographic Survey & SUE Designation: FR Aleman provided a full Topographic Survey along A1A from 5th Street to
14th Street, extending 50 feet at every intersection. The Topographic Survey showed existing Right-of-Way Lines, Section Lines,
trees with a trunk diameter of 3 inches or more, and all above ground features, such as manholes, valves, and fire hydrants.
Additionally, the rim, top, and invert elevations of all existing sanitary sewer manholes, pump wet and dry wells, drainage
culverts, and catch basins were shown. Cross-sections were shown at 50-foot intervals and included elevation at the centerline,
edge of pavement, top and bottom of shoulder, centerline of swale, gutter, top of curb, back of sidewalk, Right-of-Way Line,
and low points, median, and lane lines. Additionally, the Topographic Survey showed the Finish Floor Elevations of adjacent
buildings. A total of 10 underground utilities were designated and marked along the corridor.
City of Miami Beach Maintenance Yard Facility Topographic Survey and Map of Boundary Survey: The Topographic Survey
was prepared using a Leica P20 HD scanner, creating a 3D model of the facility. It captured all above ground improvements,
including valves, manholes, pull boxes, and drainage and sanitary structures. Invert information, pipe size, and material was also
collected and shown.
Some of the additional tasks included:
–Nautilus School (Polo Park) Topographic Survey
–Miami Beach Trash Recycling Center (Green Waste Facility) Map of Boundary Survey
–Bayshore Golf Course Map of Boundary Survey
