24. BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Includes scope, size, and cost)
Under a Professional Services Agreement, FR Aleman provided as needed general surveying
services for design and construction projects in Miami-Dade County.
WASD Gravity Sewer along NW 27th Avenue between NW 107th Street & NW 123rd Street: FR
Aleman provided subsurface utility engineering (SUE) and surveying services to locate identified
utilities and designate sufficient locations to delineate the existing underground utilities. The
designation and location was performed via ground penetrating radar (GPR). To identify the utilities,
color-coded above ground markers (i.e., pk nails, steel rods, paint, etc.) were installed directly above
the centerline of the utility structure and the elevation was recorded. Field crews used tablets with
Survey 123 and automated dropdown menus to collect all required information, take photos of the
utility and surrounding area, sketch the location, and record the GPS locations. This information
is instantly sent to the office to QA/QC the work and begin any CAD work. By collecting the GPS
locations of each utility, this information can also be easily uploaded into any GIS database. The
final deliverable to the client included 3D Test Hole Reports with thorough utility information, such
as a description, pipe size, utility owner, condition, horizontal and vertical location, a sketch of the
surrounding area, and GPS coordinates. These Test Hole Reports also documented who performed
the work in the field and a QA/QC sign off from the field, office, and project manager, ensuring our
client receives the most accurate information. This work order included 82 test holes.
SW 328th Street from SW 187th Avenue to US 1: FR Aleman provided SUE and surveying services
to locate identified utilities and designate sufficient locations to delineate the existing underground
utilities. To accomplish this, FR Aleman performed utility locating via vacuum excavation for 29 test
holes. To identify the utilities, color-coded above ground markers (i.e., pk nails, steel rods, etc.) were
installed directly above the centerline of the utility structure and the elevation was recorded. As
deliverables, FR Aleman provided Test Hole Reports and CAD files. The Test Hole Reports included
pertinent utility information, such as description, pipe size, utility owner, condition, horizontal and
vertical location, and a sketch of the surrounding area.
Fire Station #24, Air Rescue South: FR Aleman provided an update to the Specific Purpose Survey
Map for the Fire Station #24, Air Rescue South site. The Survey Map included all above ground
existing improvements within the project site. Field visits were performed to update features that
were missing in the original map, such as curbs, trees, tanks, etc. The updated Specific Purpose
Survey also showed existing drainage structures within the project site.
Tree Island Park & Preserve: FR Aleman prepared Boundary and Topographic Surveys on the
approved Tentative plat for the Tree Island Park and Preserve. The Topographic Survey updated all
above ground features within the existing Right-of-Way, as well as obtaining a 50-foot elevation
grid. At this site, FR Aleman also provided a Final Plat.
