BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF PROJECT AND RELEVANCE TO THIS CONTRACT (Includes scope, size, and cost)
FRA provides in-house surveying and mapping services on this General Engineering contract. Projects assigned by District 6
included the establishment of baselines, reference points, benchmarks, cross sections, topographical features, DTM, GPS, and
monumentation for FDOT Right-of-Way and control maps.
Atlantic Isles Design Survey: Based on the mission plan, 20 control point targets and 10 validation points were set in the
field to improve the accuracy and apply a geometric correction of the collected point cloud data. Once the targets and points
were set, Atlantic Avenue and Atlantic Isle, from the main entrance bridge was scanned with mobile LiDAR, collecting one
million points of data per second. After the data was acquired, FR Aleman’s Certified Survey Technicians post process it to
XYZ coordinates. The data was adjusted to control points and a final 3D point cloud was created. From this point cloud, a 3D
Topographic Survey was created, identifying all above ground features and topography from front of building to front of
building for 50 properties. Using artificial intelligence, FR Aleman automatically extracts features, such as trees and street signs
from the LiDAR point cloud to be identified in the Topographic Survey. A Drainage Survey was also done, locating 33 storm
sewer structures and measuring the XYZ, size, type, and condition. For Subdivision Locations, FR Aleman searched for the front
boundary corners of approximately 50 properties to validate the Right-of-Way lines.
Right-of-Way Monumentation Map - SR 7/NW 7th Avenue from SR 934/NW 79th Street to NW 117th Street: FR Aleman set
Control Points every 1,000 feet. For the Baseline, FR Aleman set PIs, PTs, and PCs at the beginning and end of the project site. A
total of nearly 200 Block Corners and Right-of-Way PIs were set along the entire corridor. The field location of Section Corners,
1/4 Corners, Center Corners, Center of Sections, and Fractional Corners were identified and analyzed. FR Aleman performed
investigations to obtain block information to close the adjacent blocks (subdivision blocks). Existing monuments were obtained
and a total of 65 Subdivision Blocks were surveyed.
Right-of-Way Monumentation Map - SR 90/SW 7th Street from SW 27th Avenue to Brickell Avenue: FR Aleman set Control
Points every 1,000 feet. For the Baseline, FR Aleman set PIs, PTs, and PCs at the beginning and end of the project site. A total of
100 Block Corners and Right-of-Way PIs were set along the entire corridor. The field location of Section Corners, 1/4 Corners,
Center Corners, Center of Sections, and Fractional Corners were identified and analyzed. FR Aleman performed investigations to
obtain block information to close the adjacent blocks (subdivision blocks). Existing monuments were obtained and a total of 56
Subdivision Blocks were surveyed.
25.
