PEDELTA
The following sections present the PEDELTA team's general approach to design projects, while maintaining
budget, schedule, and quality to deliver outstanding design solutions to address critical issues identified by the
City of Sunny Isles.
The traffic control plans
Maintenance of traffic (MOT) and temporary traffic control plans will be required. The design team will take
the necessary steps to ensure the proposed work can be done with little impact to the traveling public.
Coordination and communication with all stakeholders and with the City will be essential to determine specific
lane closures or detours especially during bridge erection phases. Hours for lane closures will be clearly
specified in the bridge plans and be limited to non -peak hours, non-event days and no weekends. The level of
Traffic Control Plans required will be determined.
Forthese types of project traffic control plans will be prepared consistent with other similar Miami -Dade County
projects. This will consist of developing typical sections for the different construction phases and providing
description of the work to be done by the contractor in each phase corresponding to each typical section. Traffic
control will be oriented to move traffic on the existing pavement, minimizing lane closures, and providing
continuous access to the surrounding properties while the bridges is under construction. Our traffic control
plans will ensure that any pedestrian path connecting to Samson Oceanfront Parka and beaches will be
maintained for the entire length of the project during all phases of construction.
Geotechnical — Material Testing
The geotechnical services will be performed in full compliance with latest applicable Miami -Dade County
standards, FDOT manuals, guidelines, state & federal regulations. Our geotechnical subconsultants on the team
Terracon are very experienced with similar projects and has consistently delivered high quality services to FDOT
District Materials Office with high performance grades while earning outstanding reputation for geotechnical
engineering excellence that included minor to major bridge's design and rehabilitation in various types of
geologies (including muck presence).
A site visit will be conducted to increase familiarity of the project site, to evaluate site safety, MOT
requirements, and to identify any special conditions such as special permitting needs.
Our approach will generally include the following steps: project initiation, collection, and review of all existing
data (in-house database, USDA Soil Survey/USGS maps, historic aerial photos, etc.) This preliminary work allows
the team to create a very detailed scope that meets the Miami -Dade County and FDOT requirements.
Drainage
City of Sunny Isles as well MDC area is unique in that it encompasses a geographical location that is highly
susceptible to rainfall events due to its low topography and climate described as a tropical monsoon -type
climate. Additionally, the City overall proximity to the Atlantic Ocean, as well as effects related to sea level rise
increases the City susceptibility to localized rainfall -induced flooding. Developing new and innovative ways of
designing resilient solutions that work for today and the future are key in successfully addressing drainage
within the City.
City of Sunny Isles Beach
Request for Qualifications No. 20-10-01
-25-
