The original intent was to saw cut and demolish the pavement <br /> surrounding said boxes while leaving the actual boxes intact. However, due to the condition of many <br /> of the boxes, the assumed methodology described above could not be employed. Instead, it was <br /> necessary to completely remove and replace the boxes as part of the sidewalk construction activities. <br /> Figure 1 below depicts the impact to the existing box when demolition of the surrounding concrete <br /> sidewalk was attempted.
