<br />01020 - 2/11 <br /> <br />bid prices, as listed in the Bid Form, are approximate only and are included solely for <br />the purpose of comparison of Bids. OWNER does not expressly or by implication <br />agree that the nature of the materials encountered below the surface-of the ground <br />or the actual quantities of material encountered or required will correspond therewith <br />and reserves the right to increase or decrease any quantity or to eliminate any <br />quantity as OWNER may deem necessary. CONTRACTOR will not be entitled to any <br />adjustment in a unit bid price as a result of any change in an estimated quantity and <br />agrees to accept the aforesaid unit bid prices as complete and total compensation for <br />any additions or deductions caused by a variation in quantities as a result of more <br />accurate measurement, or by any changes or alterations in the Work ordered by <br />OWNER, and for use in the computation of the value of the Work performed for <br />progress payments. <br />1.03 MEASUREMENT STANDARDS <br />A. All work completed under the Contract shall be measured according to United States <br />Standard Methods. <br />1.04 METHOD OF MEASUREMENT AND PAYMENT <br />A. Lump Sum Items: Where payment is to be made on a lump sum basis, no <br />separate payment will be made for any item of work required to complete the lump <br />sum item. <br />B. Unit Price Items: Where payment is to be made on a unit price basis, separate <br />payment will be made for the items of work described herein, and listed on the Bid <br />Schedule. Any related work not specifically listed, but required for satisfactory <br />completion of the Work, shall be considered to be included in the scope of the <br />appropriate listed work items. <br />C. Measurement of Length: Unless otherwise specified for the particular items involved, <br />all measurements of distance for items to be paid for on the basis of length shall be <br />taken horizontally or vertically. <br />D. Measurement of Area: In the measurement of items paid for on the basis of area of <br />finished work, the lengths and/or widths to be used in the calculations shall be the <br />actual dimensions measured along the surface of the completed work within the <br />neat lines shown or designated. At intersections, the measurement used for length <br />of side area will be measured from the outside edge of the width allowed along the <br />main trench. <br />E. Failed Testing: No additional payment will be allowed due to failed tests, generating <br />additional work from the contractor. Contractor shall correct the substandard <br />condition and restore area to final condition at his own expense. The City may back <br />charge the contractor, via a change order, for re-inspection expenses due to failed <br />tests due to the negligence of the contractor. <br />F.
