4 E
n
ASHBRITT, INC. RESPONSE TO THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, FL
INVITATION TO BID NO. 14 -06-02 E;NERGENCI' DEBRIS CLEARING AND REMOVAL OPERATIONS
_-
L7 Experience & Similar Work History
AshBritt has a proven track record of providing outstanding emergency debris management services. We have
been involved in emergency debris management following a wide variety of major disasters within the U.S. We
have managed vegetative, construction and demolition, white goods, beach sand, e- waste, asbestos containing
materials, and household hazardous waste. We keep the debris stream highly segregated to prevent ineligible
debris from entering landfills and to maximize recycling efforts. Our debris management experience, our proven
expertise in dealing with complex debris streams, and our rapid- response and completion make us the right choice
for projects requiring professional debris management services. The following are summaries of several projects
that reflect our organizational experience.
Project: Ocean County, New Jersey - Hurricane Sandy, 2012 -2013
Hurricane Sandy Recovery Operations - Contract AG -063
November 1, 2012 - March 30, 2013
AshBritt Operations Manager: Rob Ray (0) 954- 545 -3535; (M) 954 -868 -9502
Brief Description of Effort
Specifically for our Contract with the State of New Jersey, we were activated by Ocean County. AshBritt
identified and designated collection zones in each municipal jurisdiction. We sourced, retained and assigned
subcontractors for all collection zones. We developed, staffed and operated 42 Temporary Debris Storage and
Reduction Sites (TDSR) throughout the affected areas and collected and hauled 1,325,876 cubic yards of debris
in 90 days.
Specifically, we hauled 64,891 loads of debris, using 1,755 certified operational vehicles. We employed and
managed 94 subcontractors, 70 of which were domiciled in NJ. To remove the 5,000 hazardous trees and 45,000
dangerous hanging limbs, 36 tree crews were deployed. There were numerous special debris waste streams
encountered on this project. This was the most diverse response in terms of combined tasks for special debris
under one Contract. Utilizing our household hazardous waste (HHW) crews, we removed and disposed of 2,900
drums (55gal) of HHW. AshBritt collected, hauled and processed 60 tons of e- waste, 20,000 white goods - 5,000
contained Freon. All were delivered to local recycling centers. Multiple sand screening machines were engaged
to screen 200,000 cubic yards of sand that was washed from the beaches into the public streets. We located,
established and operated a vessel aggregation area for 42 sunken or submerged vessels recovered by AshBritt.
Meeting Small Business Goals
AshBritt subcontracted 80.1 % of the subcontracted work to small business in the ongoing New Jersey Hurricane
Sandy effort. The goal set by AshBritt in our proposal was 40 %. There were no contractual stipulations that
required AshBritt to report on meeting this goal.
Location of the Effort
AshBritt served the following localities under the State of New Jersey Contract during recovery efforts for
Hurricane Sandy:
Bayonne
Little Silver
Bay Head
Seaside Heights
Red Bank
Belmar
Loch Arbour
Beach Haven
Seaside Park
Roselle
Bernardsville
Manasquan
Berkeley
Ship Bottom
Roselle Park
Califon
Middletown
Bride
Stafford
Rumson
Cranbury
Neptune
Jackson
Toms River
Sayreville
Deal
Newark
Lakewood
Ocean Gate
Scotch Plains
Flemington
State of New Jersey,
Lavallette
Old Bridge Township
Sea Bright
Hillside
DEP
Long Beach
Point Pleasant Beach
Sea Girt
Holmdel
Ocean Township
Manchester
Princeton Township
Tewksbury
Hopewell
(Monmouth County)
Mantoloking
Readington
Tinton Falls
Jersey City
Ocean County
Ocean Township
Ventnor
Keansburg
Bamegat
(Ocean County)
Weymouth Township
o AshBritt
0 E"'"'"-[ Page 14 Brief Company Background Information
