Moffatt & Nichol, Inc.
We (or personnel now at Moffatt & Nichol) provided structural engineering consultation and design services for the
renovations and upgrades to the city of Coral Springs Public safety complex. Following a comprehensive site
assessment and audit of record construction documents, the existing police department building structure was
modeled and analyzed for resident load capacity. We coordinated the space planning and configurations with the
user and the architect to optimize strengthening for occupancy changes within the existing envelope. The
programming also included infill floors within the existing building volume and a vertical addition to create space for
an Emergency Operation Center. As such the entire building structure comprised of existing components and addition
was hardened to achieve Building Code compliance for risk category 4 facilities.

Moffatt & Nichol offers clients a professional and experienced support staff of more than 850 planning and design‐
related professionals and support personnel, who specialize in structural, civil, coastal, mechanical, and electrical and
construction engineering disciplines. The company is a private corporation and maintains a thirteen‐member board
of directors, with key practice leaders and operational managers who provide overall leadership for the company.
Most of these are working professionals with long and distinguished careers in engineering in the coastal
environment. The firm has been established in Florida since 1994, and currently has seven offices throughout the
state.
For our municipal clients, Moffatt & Nichol has acted as an extension of their staff to provide professional consulting
services on a variety of projects. We have attended commission and council meetings on short notice, developed
presentations for public workshops, and maintained web‐based project management systems to facilitate project
communication with municipal staff. Moffatt & Nichol has also prepared construction plans and specifications, as
well as a contract documents, for a number of projects in Florida, and has assisted municipalities in the competitive
bidding process. The firm also provides construction administration services to make certain the projects are
completed in accordance with the contract documents as well as the environmental permits.

100 W.
