<br />City of Boca Raton Public Works Maintenance and Administration Complex, Boca
<br />Raton, FL. 20-acre site for all city operations, including administration for the parks,
<br />public works, and engineering departments. The facility provides outdoor storage and
<br />loading for parks department-related landscape, soil, and hardscape. The complex also
<br />houses the city maintenance garage with the usual appointments for support of the
<br />mechanics. Larry provided Engineering Project Management for all buildings and site
<br />Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, and Fire Protection.
<br />Broward County Edgar P. Mills Multi-Purpose Center, Fort Lauderdale, FL. Principal-
<br />in-charge/structural engineer for design of a three-story 50,000-square-foot facility, a
<br />three-story parking garage that accommodates 324 vehicles, an outdoor covered eating
<br />area and covered walkways. The center houses Broward County social services
<br />departments that provide assistance to the elderly, families, veterans, and those most at
<br />risk, by providing case management, emergency assistance, substance abuse treatment
<br />and counseling, family planning, financial assistance, housing assistance, health care and
<br />dental services clinics, and a dispensing pharmacy operated by the Broward County
<br />Health Department. The building received LEED Silver certification.
<br />Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center Expansion, Fort
<br />Lauderdale, FL. Provided structural and civil engineering services for the addition of
<br />50,000 square feet of exhibition space with 180-foot elevated steel trusses. To support
<br />convention growth throughout South Florida, the space created more meeting rooms,
<br />larger pre-function space in the grand lobby, new administrative offices, and an
<br />elevated, climate-controlled pedestrian skywalk on the second floor leading to the
<br />parking garage.
<br />Broward County South Regional Library, Pembroke Pines, FL. Principal-in-
<br />charge/structural engineer for the two-story library that serves both the citizens of
<br />Broward County and the students of Broward Community College’s South Campus. It
<br />is the first LEED-certified building in Broward County. The library exterior is of pre-
<br />cast and pre-stressed pigmented concrete tilt wall construction. Its design is aesthetically
<br />unique, and its floor systems are specifically created to accommodate the heavy stacking
<br />loads associated with books and periodicals housed in the library.
<br />Port Everglades Operations Center and Harbormaster Tower, Fort Lauderdale, FL.
<br />Principal-in-charge/structural engineer for the nine-story modern lighthouse-like
<br />building that offers a panoramic 270-degree view of the 2,190-acre stretch of waterways
<br />that make up Port Everglades and its surrounding communities. The operations center,
<br />designed to remain functioning in post-disaster situations, is equipped with the latest
<br />technology in radar and security systems to monitor and operate all the port’s navigable
<br />waters and berthing facilities. It boasts hurricane resistance strength and full stand-by
<br />and backup power.
