CGL Companies | 30
RICHLAND
COUNTY DECKER
CENTER
LOCATION
Columbia, South Carolina
SIZE
112,000 SF
COMPLETION DATEDecember 2016
PROJECT COST
$31 Million
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
Totaling just over 112,000 gross
square feet, the project began with
comprehensive programming and needs
assessment to transform an existing strip
shopping center into a new central courts
and Sheriff’s Regional Headquarters. The
goal was to create a space that could
provide premier customer service to the
community while also meeting the needs
of efficient courtroom spaces and secure
circulations paths for the public, judges
and prisoners. Specific security needs
of the Sheriff’s Headquarters were taken
into consideration to provide a space
that addressed their unique needs and
requirements.
An additional component of the project
addressed the community’s concerns for
proper storm water runoff into the nearby
Gill’s Creek Watershed. By incorporating
creative solutions, these needs were
met while also using it as an educational
opportunity for the area. Display signage
is featured on the property as a tool
for communicating the underground
materials and systems and how they
function.
