The marine patrol vessel was purchased in 2007 and due to high repair costs and <br />antiquated technology is in need of replacement. We are seeking approval to purchase a new vessel <br />from Metal Shark for an amount not to exceed $311,330.09 which will allow our marine patrol unit to <br />more effectively patrol our waterways. The police department is also seeking approval to purchase six <br />tactical ballistic shields for use by our Police Supervisors in an amount not to exceed $18,720.00. The <br />shields can be used to safeguard officers who are exposed in dangerous situations. The purchase of <br />these six shields will supplement our current stock and give every uniform patrol supervisor a ballistic <br />shield. In an effort to modernize police operations the police department is seeking approval to <br />purchase Apple iPads and relevant accessories for police supervisors and detectives in an amount not <br />to exceed $16,119.00. The iPads will allow the supervisors and detectives to work more efficiently and <br />provide a host of benefits to include evidence collection, improved communication, optimizing the <br />dissemination of police paperwork, and limiting the use of paper as we aim to move toward more <br />environmentally sustainable practices. The police department has always made great effort in being a <br />presence in the community. As of late, the police department has engaged the community in many <br />events and is seeking approval to purchase giveaway items for these events in an amount not to <br />Item Number: 10.A <br />
