Schools <br />The City will coordinate with service providers to ensure that public facility improvements will be <br />evaluated for funding accordance with the following general criteria: <br />1) Improvements which are necessary to protect the health, safety and environmental <br />integrity of the community, consistent with the policies of the [Comprehensive Plan] and <br />applicable federal, state, and county regulatory requirements. <br />2) Improvements that are necessary to meet existing deficiencies in capacity or in <br />performance. These include the retrofit of deteriorating facilities that fail or threaten to <br />fail to meet health, safety or environmental standards. <br />3) Improvements that extended service to previously unserved developed areas. <br />4) Improvements that have been identified in adopted functional plans and address system <br />details which are beyond the scope of the comprehensive plan for wastewater and <br />potable water facilities, and are consistent with the goals, objectives and policies of the <br />comprehensive plan, <br />5) Cost-effective improvements to expand capacity, maximize operational efficiency, and <br />increase productivity. <br />6) Improvements to adapt existing infrastructure or provide new infrastructure that is <br />resilient to the impacts of potential climate change, including sea level rise, more <br />frequent floating, higher temperature and more frequent storm events. <br />Objective 2 <br />The City of Sunny Isles Beach shall coordinate new residential development with the future <br />availability of public school facilities consistent with the adopted level of service standards for public <br />school concurrency, to ensure the inclusion of those projects necessary to address existing deficiencies <br />in the 5 -year schedule of capital improvements, and meet future needs based upon achieving and <br />maintaining the adopted level of service standards throughout the planning period. <br />There are no residential units as part of this small-scale amendment.
