RFQ # 22-06-01
City of Sunny Isles Beach Landscape Architectural Services
12
LPOC36007.2022
Continuing Services for
PLACEMAKING
Combining national experience with a local sensibility for our clients, Kimley-Horn’s placemaking
professionals provide comprehensive solutions to the planning and design of the urban public
realm. Renowned for our work on redevelopment, streets, and urban revitalization, Kimley-Horn
creates memorable places. With specialties including urban design, redevelopment, entitlements,
community planning, and recreation, our planners and landscape architects deliver award-winning,
practical, and sustainable design solutions.
REDEVELOPMENT
As municipalities continue to grow, urban design,
streetscape design, and landscape architecture
have become integral components of roadway and
transportation system designs and infrastructure
improvements. Revitalizing commercial districts,
controlling traffic flows, and providing recreational
areas and pedestrian and bicycle facilities in
increasingly congested areas are some of the solutions designed by our engineers,
landscape architects, and planners. Known for our public involvement programs,
workshop facilitation, and consensus-building, we respond to the unique needs of each
client–mindful of the role effective planning and design plays in enabling stakeholders
to establish priorities. Working side-by-side with engineers, architects, and construction
professionals, we ensure the realization of our clients’ vision while solving the challenges
of each site.
ROADWAY LANDSCAPING
The basic tenet of roadway landscaping is to provide an enjoyable driving
experience while recognizing the importance of safety and maintenance.
Kimley-Horn has designed many roadway landscapes, and each represents
the challenges associated with limited space, water conservation, plant
survivability, utility conflicts, and traffic congestion. Our landscape design
approach is to use plant material in a manner that creates a “rhythm” or
“theme” for the roadway corridor. Varying tree heights, combining different
plant species for textural interest, and spacing plant material are methods
of creating aesthetically pleasing vehicular corridors. Practical restrictions
related to City of Sunny Isles Beach standards for plant selection, application
of xeriscape principles, and roadway design and road lighting will often
dictate design. The effective use and placement of vertical features including
trees, signs, and light poles will result in a landscape treatment that provides
optimum safety, pleasing aesthetics, and low maintenance.
Kimley-Horn’s goal is to turn our clients’ ideas into destinations where
memories are made. Our cross-functional teams of landscape architects,
engineers, and planners have provided comprehensive consulting services
for dozens of award-winning projects across the country. We know how to
maximize amenities while minimizing front-end and maintenance costs,
resulting in destinations that stand the test of time.
Midtown Miami
Palmetto Park Road, Boca Raton, FL
Bradenton Riverwalk
