10Response to RFQ # 22-06-01 - Landscape DE
Firm Qualifications and Experience for Evaluation
We are pleased to submit to you this response package for the ‘Request For Qualifications for Continuing
Services for Landscape Architectural Services CCNA’ (# 22-06-01). We are very excited at the prospect
of working with your community to help make great public space designs. Our firm, Landscape DE, is a
South Florida based landscape architecture office specializing in park and public space designs.
A. Proposers must provide a description of the firm, including the size, range of activities, strength,
stability, experience, awards, recognitions, etc.
Landscape DE has been operating for over a decade in South Florida. We currently have three full-time
designers on in our firm and plan to hire an additional designer soon. Currently, our staff can take on
additional work and we will have no problem handling the work from your city.
Landscape DE has worked with various communities in South Florida on park and public space projects
including Miami-Dade County, FDOT, City of Miami Beach, City of Miami, Village of Pinecrest, City
of North Miami, City of Hialeah, and City of Port St Lucie. We have experience in a variety of project
types including playgrounds, parking areas, picnic areas, a petting zoo, a learning garden, gateways,
pathways, monuments, streetscapes, pocket parks, a nature center, and a water play area. Landscape DE
also has played roles in several major South Florida public space initiatives including the Ludlam Trail,
the Underline, and Brickell Bay Park. Landscape DE’s principals, Douglas Thompson and Ebru Ozer,
have been working as landscape designers in Florida for over a decade and have managed the design and
construction of several major public space projects.
Landscape DE has recently won a Florida Chapter American Society of Landscape Architects Award for
the firm’s design of Camp Matecumbe Park in western Miami Dade County. The park’s design features
a new nature-based playground, new walkways, earthworks, a new parking lot, large new trees, and
extensive native planting. The design immerses children in a natural space and promotes an appreciation
for natural things. The planting design utilizes species found in pine rocklands and has several bird and
pollinator attracting plants that invite other species into the play space.
B. How does the firm’s experience in similar project scope and complexity directly benefit the City
for this project?
Landscape DE has extensive experience with complex, multi-disciplinary projects. Landscape DE most
recently completed project, the new Upper Garden project at Pinecrest Garden, was a wide ranging
multidisciplinary effort led by Landscape DE as prime consultant. Our team included architects,
engineers, and other various design consultants. The Upper Garden features a large new playground with
nature-themed play sculptures, a new petting zoo with a ground-breaking design for inclusive interaction,
a new learning garden, new restroom facilities, and a new iconic multi-use classroom and event building
called the Inspiration Center.
At Landscape DE we thrive on new challenges and finding unique solutions. We provide quality projects
that local agencies can hold up as standards. Our work for Miami-Dade County for nature playgrounds
