11Response to RFQ # 22-06-01 - Landscape DE
inspired the county to develop new park standards guidebook based on our designs that will be utilized by
other designers employed by the county.
C. Describe what unique and extraordinary skills or qualifications your firm brings to this Project,
including industry “Best Practices”. How would the selection of your firm add value to the
Project?
Landscape DE stands out from other firms for many reasons. First, great design is central of our design
approach. We invest time to think about how our designs are constructed and their impacts. We often
get compliments from our clients and from constructors on the thoroughness and detailing of our design
documents. We are always looking for ways to ensure that our designs are both functional and beautiful.
Our finished designs are also highly regarded. Our recently completed Camp Matecumbe Park project
recently won a Florida Chapter American Society of Landscape Architects.
Along with our landscape designs, we also have talented illustrators and graphic designers on our staff.
We can create great images for our clients that allow them to market their project or provide information
to the public. Some of our images have been used to market such large public initiatives as the Ludlam
Trail, The Underline, and the Miami Forever Bond.
In addition to our great design and graphic skills, we have strong principles in developing designs
with sustainability and environmental resiliency. We believe that bio-diverse designs provide a healthy
environment for people and nature alike. As possible we utilize a palette of mostly native plants in our
designs. We have a goal of utilizing 95% native species on our projects. We also create opportunities for
habitat in our designs. For example, we use plants that provide shelter and forage for birds, and we use
plants that attract pollinators or that are hosts for various butterfly and moth species. Additionally, we try
to add bat houses or nest boxes for birds, such as woodpeckers, Purple Martins, and owls as is feasible.
Our principal beliefs also include design inclusivity. We strive to make our designs accessible and
interesting to people of various abilities, backgrounds, and ages. We want to create parks that are
enjoyable and inviting to everyone in the community. Access exceeding ADA standards and creating
varied programming are some of the key elements that we try to incorporate in to all of our designs.
D. Describe your company’s resources and capabilities with respect to scheduling cost control,
quality control and project coordination with sub consultants as well as the City.
At Landscape DE we believe in strong coordination of project teams during design and construction. We
set out schedules and goals at the project outset and hold periodic meetings to keep the team focused
and on task. When it comes to construction, we also work with constructing contractors to ensure they
understand project goals and our expectations. We are closely involved in the project throughout the
construction period, with frequent site visits and continuous communications with the constructors. We
also develop project reports throughout construction on a weekly basis to provide the constructors and the
clients with clarity on expectations and process.
Firm Qualifications and Experience for Evaluation
