28Response to RFQ # 22-06-01 - Landscape DE
Project Approach
Our team is excited for the opportunity to play a role in the future development of public spaces
in your city. Our team is composed of landscape architect, engineers, and consultants with
expertise in public space design. Our approach to projects will be shaped by the requirements
of each individual project site and its required scope of work, but we have an overall approach
to projects and the design process.
Connect with Native Ecosystems: Central to Landscape DE’s design approach is a belief in the
goals of sustainability and environmental resiliency. Through our designs, we seek ways to
promote natural ecologies using design elements that support wildlife habitat for insects, birds,
and mammals. We believe that biodiverse designs provide a healthy environment for people
and nature alike. As part of our designs, we would like to connect visitors with the native
environment, drawing attention to the uniqueness of the South Florida region’s climate and
ecosystem. We would have a goal of using mostly native materials and creating elements that
offer refuge and forage to local birds, small mammals, and pollinators.
Develop Programming with Broad Appeal: As possible, the public realm taken as a whole
should appeal to a wide variety of people around the community. We will make efforts to
create opportunities for various age groups, ethnic background, and socioeconomics. Public
should be an equal opportunity space in the community.
Ensure Inclusiveness and Interaction: Our designs should not only meet current ADA standards,
but should seek to exceed them, and be accessible to visitors of varying physical and mental
capabilities. We will focus on offering benchmark facilities for inclusiveness. This will include
a mix of active and passive elements, clarity in circulation, and ease of movement for people of
varying abilities.
Create Connections: We would like to help the city to create connective corridors throughout
the city that connect the city’s neighborhoods and parks. We would like to include connective
features into our plans as possible to move this idea forward. This can include creating trails
within the parks that can link up with future trails to other parks. The idea is to find ways to
connect public space pieces both physically and programmatically.
Design Process
The following are approximate descriptions of the elements of our design process:
Site Analysis: This phase focuses on familiarizing ourselves with the project site, its challenges,
and opportunities. Our first step in all projects is to visit the site. We like to visit each site
multiple times, if possible, on different days, at different times, and under varying conditions.
Findings are utilized to develop a site inventory and analysis. which could include topography,
