29Response to RFQ # 22-06-01 - Landscape DE
existing vegetation, existing sun and shade, condition of existing structures, circulation, utility
locations, preferred usages, and other general conditions.
Stakeholder Input: Working with stakeholders and the client, we will clarify the project
programming and clarify goals for each project. Public outreach efforts are also possible as
desired by the city. At Landscape DE, we love working with the members of the community
and we look forward to making this part of the design effort. Outreach efforts are led by our
principal Ebru Ozer. Ebru has extensive experience in public outreach. She has organized
outreach efforts for our Pioneer Park Project in Port St Lucie, our Pinecrest Gardens Upper
Garden expansion project in Pinecrest, and for our Tropical Audubon Society campus redesign
master plan in Coral Gables, Florida.
Public outreach can include workshops, surveys, or meetings (in-person or virtual). Our efforts
can include educating the public about the site(s) and learning what they would like to see.
Along with the outreach to the public, Landscape DE can also conduct interviews with the City
leadership or pertinent professionals and stakeholders to obtain their opinions.
Conceptual Designs: Based on our site analysis and stakeholder input, we develop a conceptual
plan. The plan will also give a sense of the general character and function of a site overall.
The designs can be illustrated through the development of sketch plans, section/elevations, and
perspective illustration as needed to communicate the design concepts. The design concepts
will be presented to the client and stakeholders for feedback before moving forward with
further design development. Landscape DE can also develop refined illustrations that can help
the city sell ideas or provide information. Initial cost estimates would be included during this
phase to assist the city in decision making.
Cost Estimates: Good cost estimates are an important part of decision-making process for a
client. We will utilize data from past projects and from consultation with trusted contractors to
develop cost estimates that are thorough, accurate, and inclusive. For larger projects, we can
hire professional estimators to provide help developing our estimates. We typically start the
development of our estimates during conceptual design and update the estimate throughout the
design process up until bid time.
Design Development: Upon approval of the design concepts developed during the conceptual
design phase, Landscape DE will commence with detailed design development. During this
phase, the conceptual designs will be refined and further clarified. Design team will keep
the client abreast of the progress of detailing and will also submit a formal progress set for
review by the client. The client may submit comments and suggestions for improvement in
writing following the submission. Landscape DE can also present ideas to the public or city
leadership for additional input. The comments and suggestions can also be incorporated into
any construction documents. Updated cost estimates would be included.
Project Approach
