| 39CONTINUING SERVICES FOR LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURAL SERVICES | RFQ 22-06-01
Getting Community “Buy-In”
Comprehensive community input is critical for the success of any municipal project. Successful public spaces are “owned” by the
community in which they sit and it is critical throughout the design process to nourish that sense of ownership. We have discovered with
years of working in local communities that when a community becomes truly involved, all aspects of the project development are easier
and the transition from concept to construction is less disruptive and more acceptable to the community. Our team has an in-house, fully
experienced professional involvement group that will work closely with all of the stakeholders associated with each assignment.
BA’s Public Involvement group is led by Tere Garcia, an architect and urban planner by trade, Ms. Garcia has over 30 years of experience
in the fields of planning, public participation, government and media relations. BA has provided successful public involvement programs
to multiple government agencies and municipalities throughout South Florida.
BA’s Management Capacity
As one of South Florida’s leading design firms, BA has a staff of more than 100 professionals in its Miami and Fort Lauderdale offices.
The assigned staff will be thoroughly committed and available to perform and complete each assignment on time and within budget for
the City of Sunny Isles Beach.
Our eight subconsultant firms have extensive experience in landscape architectural project types and sufficient staff to meet the labor
needs of their specific task for each assignment.
Currently Under Contract
BA has been providing these similar continuing scopes of services for various municipalities in Florida for the past 15 years. At present,
BA has the following projects under design or at various stages of development:
• Doral Central Park (City of Doral)
• Doral Cultural Center (City of Doral)
• Hollywood Boulevard Streetscape (City of Hollywood)
• Snake Creek Pedestrian Trails (City of North Miami Beach)
• Pompano Beach McNair Park (City of Pompano Beach)
• Pompano Beach Kester Park (City of Pompano Beach)
• Matheson Hammock West Elevated Boardwalk (Miami Dade County Parks and Recreation)
• Amelia Earhart Recreation Park (Miami Dade County Parks and Recreation)
• Matheson Hammock Recreation Trail (Miami Dade County Parks and Recreation)
• Cagni Park (City of North Miami)
Staffing Commitment
The BA team does not anticipate any difficulties handling the workload likely to result from the tasks assigned from this contract. As
repeatedly demonstrated with our previous work on similar projects for different municipalities and government agencies, BA is dedicated
to committing its professional resources to ensure the highest workforce flexibility and responsiveness to the City of Sunny Isles Beach.
We are “on-call” as needed. The depth and strength of our experience allow us to perform successfully on all of our contracts, respond
promptly, and keep projects on schedule. Our careful selection of the team for this project was made to bring together key people/firms
who we have collaborated with on projects in the past. Every one of our subconsultants has previously worked with BA; therefore, no
learning curve is required.
We believe that in every project we undertake, we become an extension of the City staff. We are conscious that City staff have a better “lay
of the land” than an outside consultant. City staff is in direct touch with administrative and elected officials. We rely on their knowledge
of the City, their relationship to the citizens/stakeholder groups, and the specific peculiarities of the projects. There are also technical
items in which City staff must play a significant decision-making role, such as in the CIP, cost recovery, and others. We will work hand in
hand with City staff on these essential technical items. Once we are selected and accept a contract, we are committed to the endeavor’s
success, no matter what effort it takes.
