If a conflict were to arise between the intent of a project and satisfying for instance the permitting requirements for that assignment, the project manager would arrange a meeting with the City, the permitting agency staff and the appropriate members of the Miller Legg Team to further define the source of the conflict, explore alternatives, and seek a resolution that is satisfactory to all parties involved. However, because we have the expertise in-house to anticipate and address such concerns in advance of submitting, these conflicts are not common in our project permitting efforts. Quality Assurance and Quality Control: Miller Legg is committed to producing cost-efficient and high- quality deliverables through significant quality control procedures. William (Bill) Schipske, PE will oversee the Quality Assurance Program throughout this Contract and will ensure all project elements are reviewed for their individual and collective technical merit and thoroughness in conveying the requirements to the agencies and contractors. The stages are interrelated in a sequence which forms our Quality Control Process logic. Quality Assurance begins with a thorough review of the project scope and defining key issues to be addressed with City of Sunny Isles Beach staff and adherence to City codes and criteria. It is incumbent upon the project design professionals to ascertain the full breadth of the scope prior to commencement of the project design. Insisting on provision of accurate as-built data and surveys is critical. Where accurate data doesn’t exist, obtaining accurate survey data and the use of ground penetration radar (GPR) is necessary. The best design begins with the most accurate scope and design information. Quality Control is a multiple step process beginning with each design professional editing and reviewing his/her work as the design process evolves. Most of our projects have 50%, 90%, and 100% submittal stages. Each stage has includes a peer review of both plans and calculations and compliance to codes and criteria. All design stages are reviewed both by the project design professional and by the designated Quality Control Manager. Our experience is that design errors and/or omissions occur less frequently with this process because these errors are identified prior to the completion of the construction plans. Project Coordination with Subconsultants and City: Miller Legg’s multi-disciplinary staff members routinely work together on a broad spectrum of concurrent projects. We handle and prioritize our workload based on the demands of multiple simultaneous projects. We have consistently proven to our clients, including the City of Sunny Isles Beach, our aptitude for delivering assignments on time (often expedited) and within budget by dedicating appropriate resources, technology and equipment. We take seriously our role as head of the consulting team and our responsibility for accurate and timely project execution according to the contract documents. Given our long history in the South Florida AE marketplace, our project managers have experience in administering teams of fellow consultants in the execution of numerous projects for our clients. Miller Legg selects its teaming partners based on the quality of their previous work with us, their dependability and responsiveness as part of a cohesive team. We determine from the outset the responsibilities of each teaming partner and insist each set of deliverables from them is forthcoming, timely, and accurate, so as to meet the project schedule and other requirements. We ensure that each firm shares our work ethic, attention to client service and quality control philosophy. Miller Legg has a staff of 50 professional employees including licensed engineers, surveyors and landscape architects, supported by construction inspectors, landscape and irrigation designers and inspectors, certified arborists, GIS coordinators, biologists and environmental specialists and planners. All key Miller Legg staff included on our organization chart are based in our Miami and Fort Lauderdale offices which will be servicing this Sunny Isles Beach project. e.
