In addition to landscape
architecture, a certified arborist report
and survey (including vacuum
excavations) services, the Miller Legg
team provided lighting and electrical
services, irrigation design, permitting,
and construction administrative services.
Coordination efforts with multiple
agencies, such as the Florida Turnpike
Authority (FTE) and the South Florida
Water Management District (SFWMD),
is included in the project scope. Specific
services for these roadway
improvements entailed providing a
specific purpose survey showing only
above-ground improvements, compiling a
30% conceptual landscape and lighting
plan, and providing 100% construction
documents for irrigation, landscape,
hardscape, lighting and electrical, and an
arborist assessment.

City of Tamarac East Side Parks
Feasibility Study - The Miller Legg
team conducted a needs assessment and
feasibility study to address potential new
recreation facilities in the eastern
portion of the City of Tamarac. The
scope included comprehensive
recreation planning based on research of
existing facilities and programs,
recreation opportunities and a needs
assessment specific to the study area
demographics in order to develop
programming, budget and operational
needs for the proposed improvements.
Community input was gathered via
various survey platforms and City staff
and public workshops scheduled to
refine recreation needs and desires. The
final deliverable was a Feasibility Study
which contained a 10-year capital
improvement plan for the
implementation of the proposed
improvements and acquisitions, an
analysis of funding opportunities and a
narrative report to outline the process
and results.

City of Tamarac University Drive
Landscaping Improvements - Miller
Legg is providing landscape architecture,
hardscape, and irrigation design,
permitting, specific purpose survey of the
existing medians, utility coordination,
utility designation, and construction
administrative services for improvements
to the existing system of medians on
University Drive between NW 78th
Street and Southgate Blvd. in the City of
Tamarac. The
project spans eastward from Andrews
Ave. and cuts through four (4) distinct
districts along Las Olas Boulevard
including Downtown Las Olas, The
Historic Shops, Colee Hammock, and
The Isles. Each area has been designed
to retain its individual identity, while
simultaneously being part of a cohesive
thoroughfare design between Downtown
Fort Lauderdale and The Beach. Miller
Legg was responsible for the planting
design along the corridor which was
entirely composed of native and Florida
Friendly species to create a pedestrian
friendly environment accenting each area
along Las Olas Boulevard. Miller Legg
also provided placemaking and
programming services, for which the
designers created parklets, plazas, and
iconic hardscape elements with water
features and public art installations that
work as resting places and wayfinding
spots. These systems incorporate such
slogans as “Meet me at Las Olas”
“Colee Hammock” and “The Isles” in the
hardscape to promote wayfinding and
create an “Instagram-able” moment.
Overhead shade structures were also
designed to help with wayfinding through
decorative elements subtly depicting the
initials corresponding to each area (eg.
“HSLO” for Historic Shops Las Olas).
Miller Legg's scope included
programming the pedestrian areas along
the corridor which integrated hardscape
design, seating design, and open space
utilization. The firm assisted with
multiple public outreach efforts including
meetings with homeowner association
groups.
