City of Sunny Isles Beach Pelican
Community Park - A three-acre active
park site, for which Miller Legg managed
designs for a baseball field, recreation
building, playground structure,
received recognition from the City for
their involvement in the design
completion of the park. In addition, Miller
Legg provided construction observation
services. In addition, we also provided
grant assistance to secure a Florida
Recreational Development Assistant
Program (FRDAP) grant for $200,000.
FRDAP is a competitive grant program
that provides financial assistance to local
City of Plantation Parks &
Recreation Master Plan - Miller Legg
was selected to prepare the first
Plantation Parks and Recreation Master
Plan. The firm provided comprehensive
recreation planning to create the Master
Plan. The Parks and Recreation Master
Plan is a tool intended to help the City of
Plantation meet the current and future
recreation needs of the community. The
resident-driven plan serves as a source of
applicable decision-making information,
and establishes clear goals and actionable
objectives to guide staff, advisory
committees, and City Council in their
work to maintain and enhance Plantation’s
system of parks, recreation facilities, and
programs over the next ten years. The
Plan was based upon research of existing
facilities and programs, recreation
opportunities and needs analyses specific
to City of Plantation demographics. To
effectively gather and disseminate
information during the planning phase,
Public Outreach was an important focus
of the project. Public workshops and
Public Online Survey assisted in
determining community recreation needs
and desires. All 42 Parks and 5
Community Centers sites were reviewed,
along with future expansion opportunities
to accommodate program requirements.
In addition, Miller Legg assisted the City
to achieve its prestigious national CAPRA
(Commission for Accreditation of Park
and Recreation Agencies) accreditation, a
demonstrated management system of
best practices and measure of agency
quality of operation, management and
service to the community.

delivered. The scope included engineering
design and permitting services for the
