Page 85Request for Qualifications # 22-06-01 Continuing Services for Landscape Architectural Services CCNA
4.3 Project Approach
Miller Legg has completed numerous
municipal, county, state and federal projects
ranging from neighborhood improvement
and redevelopment projects, educational
facilities site planning, cemeteries, neighborhood parks,
and golf course designs to aviation facilities, regional
water and sewer utilities, streetscapes, and streets and
highways.
Our approach to each project is best characterized by
a “partnering relationship.” We dedicate ourselves to
learning the culture of our clients, their specific concerns,
desires and needs, much like an extension of their own
offices. We consistently strive to maintain time schedules
and to provide factual and frequent communication.
Our Approach and Methods for handling projects are
outlined in further detail in the following sections:
Our City of Sunny Isles Beach Team is headed by
licensed landscape architecture professionals. These
professionals have been specifically selected for this
Continuing Services Contract based upon their areas of
specialization and their experience with municipal and
public projects.

Our Team’s Project Manager, Brian Shore, RLA, will be
the primary point of contact for City staff involved in
the projects generated under this consulting services
contract. Brian has 22 years of professional landscape
architecture experience in the design, permitting, and
construction of land development projects in South
Florida. He has been managing multi-disciplinary projects
and has successfully completed numerous projects
for public and municipal clients. Brian is assisted by
Miguel Juncal, RLA, CA who will lead this service effort
as Assistant Project Manager and the lead Landscape
Architect for this Contract. Miguel has over 18 years
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
THE MILLER LEGG APPROACH
of Miami-Dade County municipal project experience.
They are supported by Michael Kroll, RLA, FASLA, as
Principal-in-Charge as well as Miller Legg’s full Landscape
Architecture department.
Details of the individual skills and accomplishments of
the key professionals on our Team for this contract are
outlined in their Resumes and Firm Qualifications.
Miller Legg’s corporate tagline, “Improving Communities.
Creating Environments.”, clearly describes our design
philosophy, which is utilized in our extensive portfolio
of municipal streetscape, park, and open space facility
projects. With 57 years of experience, Miller Legg has led
significant public involvement efforts, carried out required
regulatory agency permitting, coordinated bidding
activities and conducted construction administration
efforts. Our design philosophy ensures the City’s vision,
in correlation with the desires of the stakeholders, the
existing natural and built environments, as well as a
project’s sustainability and maintenance requirements.
DESIGN PROCESS
When addressing any landscape architecture project,
Miller Legg evaluates the project using a select method
of steps to achieve the highest quality deliverables for
our clients. The Firm’s typical project design process is
outlined as:
1. Evaluation of Existing Conditions
2. Collaboration with Stakeholders
3. Design Stage
4. Preparation of Construction Documents
5. Implementation and Construction

Evaluation of Existing Conditions:
This step establishes the project’s pre-existing
constraints and improvement opportunities.
