:.
Industria!
Shadeports
Industrial Shadeports History
Industrial Shadeports is the brainchild of Christo Jacobs. Growing up in Capetown, South Africa, Chris always
dreamed of sailing the world, although he had never been outside of the country. In his 20's, he built a sailboat
by hand and talked his brother into going on what ended up to be a three year voyage together, sailing around
the world. While at a stop in the Carribbean Islands, a guy from Baltimore expounded on the wonders of the
Chesapeake Bay and talked Chris into sailing up to the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Chris and his brother decided to
stay for a while in the Inner Harbor as it had a bustling nightlife. Both found the girls of their dreams while
exploring the nightlife and decided to make the US their new home. Chris' only challenge was how to make
money to be able to stay.
Upon deciding to settle in South Florida in 1993, Chris noticed that we in the USA did not know of the common
South African practice to use mesh shadecloth held up with a steel structure to be comfortable outside in the
heat. We only had awnings here, which block the natural airflow and increase the heat level underneath,
requiring a natural or manmade (with fans) breeze to stay comfortable. Using his Engineering background, South
African ingenuity, and sheer determination, Chris formed Industrial Shadeports and created a market in South
Florida for this new concept of Mesh Shadecloth Structures while trademarking the term 'Shadeport®'.
In the years since the founding of Industrial Shadeports' formation, it has operated under various Corporate
Entities, based on the partners Chris brought into the business (Industrial Shadeports LLC, Industrial Shadeports
USA, Shadeports.com), but have always operated under the Industrial Shadeports dba name. Realizing that a
family owned company worked best for the business, Chris reincorporated as the family owned, Sun Shade Inc
dba Industrial Shadeports.
2016 was a challenging year for the business. Chris had been suffering from vision problems for a couple of years
and the business was at a crossroads. Chris always believed in the value of a family business so did not want to
sell out to a larger company. On the other hand, he could not find the right partner that shared his customer
focused values to take over the company. The operation had been slowly scaling back and was ready for a
change. This was when he met Chip Breitweiser.
Chip bought Chris out completely in 2016, kept it as a family owned business, and incorporated the company as
Industrial Shadeports Inc. Since then, Industrial Shadeports has grown to be larger than ever. It has expanded
manufacturing capabilities as well as installation capabilities. Chip is a Certified Florida General Contractor
(CGC1525577) and a Certified Playground Safety Inspector (CPS142398). He is and Engineer with a long history of
Steel Structures manufacturing and installation. He has been a voting member of various industry standards
committees (ASCE, AWWA, API) and has lead a number of industry leaders in the steel structures space.
Therefore, the perfect person for Chris to entrust his brainchild with.
Today, Industrial Shadeports is one of the most versatile companies in the shade industry. We are fully vertically
integrated, offering everything from initial design to replacement parts to life cycle maintenance. We
manufacture all manner of structures and sails, using both mesh shade cloth as well as vinyl and acrylic
waterproof fabrics. Being a General Contractor that solely works on shade projects allows us to devote all of our
time improving our products and processes. We pride ourselves on living up to commitments. We are on time,
on budget, completely flexible, and create the most beautiful structures on the market.
Try us out and you will not regret itl
InfoPShadei3orts.com 6600 NW 12" Ave, Suite 220 www.Shadeports.com
Fort Lauderdale, FL 33309
954-755-0661 10 J Il .
