REASONS: Change Order No. 5 increases the overall contract amount by $284,265.98 due to unforeseen conditions relating to the depth of existing asphalt paving that needed to be removed, additional costs incurred for the project construction trailer and additional improvements to the storm sewer system in the Golden Shores neighborhood. The original contract documents anticipated the depth of the existing asphalt paving to be 4" in thickness. Ongoing excavation activities have found the vast majority of the roadway to consist of a minimum of 8" to a maximum of 14" of asphaltic concrete paving. The additional material removal and disposal is being charged at the contractual unit price per cubic foot of volume. The existing on site construction trailer was originally being provided and paid for by an alternate contractor for the city while it was being shared by both contractors. The agreement with the alternate contractor and the City has been terminated. The trailer is required for the ongoing management of the Golden Shores undergounding project and will now be paid for solely by The Stoui Group. During the most recent storm event, significant flooding within the Golden Shores neighborhood was encountered.
