Laboratory testing and engineering <br />recommendations were provided for the new toll facilities and roadway improvements. <br />• Port Boulevard Expansion, Port of Miami, Miami 2004 Project Manager: Mr. Julio Grave, Foster Wheeler <br />Environmental Corp. <br />Mr. Horta served as Senior Geotechnical Project Engineer for realignment and widening of the Port of Miami access. Soil <br />borings for roadway and a new bridge foundation were completed. <br />• South Florida Rail Corridor Phase II - Hialeah Terminal to Hollywood Blvd. 1995 -1997 <br />Prime Consultant: HDR Engineering, Mr. Tom Kuinjan, P.E. <br />Mr. Horta served as geotechnical Senior Project Engineer for the new railway tracks and two new bridges along the 11 <br />miles project alignment. Field and laboratory testing were performed that included deep standard penetration soil <br />borings, pavement survey and asphalt testing. <br />• Palmetto Expressway Improvement, S.R.'s 826 and 836, Florida Department of Transportation, District 6, Dade <br />County, Florida 1991.1996 Project Manager: Ali Togliani, P.E., FDOT <br />Mr. Horta served as Senior Project Engineer for this project. He supervised a field investigation that included over 190 <br />borings extended to depths as great as 150 feet. He also conducted detailed foundation analyses for foundations and <br />embankments, including evaluating various foundation types such as driven piles, drilled shafts and shallow footings. <br />• Homestead Extension Florida Turnpike (HEFT) - Okeechobee Toll Plaza to 1 -75 Widening 1998 -1999 - Prime <br />Consultant: Kimley Horn & Associates, Mr. Murray D. Thornbeurg, Jr., P.E. <br />® Mr. Horta served as geotechnical Senior Project Engineer for investigation of the five bridges included in this HEFT <br />section and other geotechnical aspects of the project that includes the use of driving piles, shafts and shallow footings. <br />• Homestead Extension Florida Turnpike (HEFT) - Tamiami Toll Plaza Improvements 1995.1996 Prime Consultant: <br />Sverdrup Corporation, Mr. Gary Roufa, P.E. <br />Mr. Horta served as geotechnical Senior Project Engineer for this project that extends from SW 560 Street to SW 24`" <br />Street. Road widening, bridge investigation, asphalt pavement survey and testing and noise wall investigation was <br />included in the geotechnical investigation. <br />E <br />NW 57 Avenue (W. 4 Avenue) from W. 21 Street to W. 49 Street, Hialeah, FL 2001 Project Manager: Mr. Ali <br />Togliani, FDOT <br />Mr. Horta served as Senior Geotechnical Project Engineer for this subsurface exploration and geotechnical engineering <br />evaluation of the existing 1.9 -mile section of W. 4 Avenue that will be widened to the west. Two new bridges will be <br />required to provide access to lateral streets, retaining walls will be required along the existing canal to provide room for <br />the proposed widening and the existing roadway pavement section was evaluated; Drainage and LBR tests were <br />performed along the alignment. Subsurface exploration was performed using SPT and Auger borings in accordance with <br />FDOT recommendations. Engineering work included evaluating alternate foundations types. <br />Page 2 <br />
