E
West Kendall Baptist Hospital
This much needed project consists of the new West Kendall Baptist Hospital which is
currently in construction. The hospital complex is on a 30 acre parcel at SW 162
Avenue and SW 96 Street in Miami Dade County. The hospital will provide 134 beds
with the capabilities to expand into a 300 bed facility. In addition to the hospital there is
a central energy plant, medical arts building, three lakes on -site and a day care facility.
The entire complex was design to achieve a LEED's certification which when completed
will be the first hospital in the state to hold this LEED certification. DPA was the design
site civil engineer for this 30 acre parcel which included the paving, grading, water,
sewer, drainage, pedestrian walkways, access management, and signing and pavement
marking. The thirteen different at grade parking lots have separate uses for each of the
areas of the complex like the doctors gate controlled parking lot, the visitor lot, the
employee lot, ambulance parking lot with larger stall sizes, and a discharge parking lot.
The total number of parking spaces for this project exceeds 860 spaces. DPA is doing
the construction administration for the site civil portion. Mr. Seymour is the Engineer of
Record and Project Manager for the design, bidding and construction administration
phases for this complex hospital site.
Parking Lots and Roadway Network for Southwest Florida International Airport
® The Lee County Port Authority (LCPA) in the growing southwest Florida area,
recognized the need for a major renovation to its Southwest Florida International Airport
patron and employee parking lots in addition to their terminal roadway system. LCPA
hired DPA to prepare design documents for these improvements which included a new
at -grade 500 space parking lot, modification of the existing parking lots, widening of the
terminal frontage roads and connector service roads. Because this challenging project
involved several different areas of engineering such as: roadway design, lighting design,
structural design, geotechnical, landscaping, permitting, construction cost estimating,
and construction management services, it was critical for DPAs staff to coordinate
closely in order to meet the project deadline and construction budget. Mr. Seymour was
the project engineer and construction project manager for this airport project.
11
OTHER SIGNIFICANT PROJECTS:
• NW 12 Street from NW 107 Avenue to NW 127 Avenue
• Florida City Youth Activity Center- Parking Lot and Site Improvements
• NW South River Drive and NW 106 St. Intersection Improvements
• Dade County Flashing School Signal Signalization
• SR 5 /US 1 in South Dade County
• Site Circulation for Harbor House North
• Run -up Area /Blast Fence Improvements at Miami International Airport
• New World Symphony Parking Garage- Miami Beach
2 of, dPa David Plummer & Associates
TRANSPORTATION • CML -STRUCTURAL • ENVIRONMENTAL
