Bicycle and Pedestrian Planning
Kimley -Horn has successfully represented the interests of
pedestrians and bicyclists on many planning level studies and
design projects throughout Florida. Drawing on expertise from
around the state, we have helped the Miami -Dade County MPO,
City of Miami Beach, Town of Miami Lakes, Town of Bay Harbor
Islands, City of South Miami, Village of Palmetto Bay, and
many others complete their bicycle and pedestrian plans and
improvements.
Beyond the systems planning phase, we continue to partner with
local officials to implement those improvements targeted during
the visioning process. Our team of planners, landscape architects,
engineers, and environmental scientists work together with agency
staff to understand the local issues and prepare feasible design
concept plans, typical cross sections, and construction cost estimates reinforce the presence of bicycles and pedestrians along
the travel corridor. Many agencies, including Miami Lakes, Bay Harbor Islands and others, have hired us for a single project, then
opted to retain our services for additional projects, including design and construction.
Parking/Parking Structures
Kimley -Horn understands that parking is about communities, people, business, and traffic. For more than 30 years, we have
successfully balanced the needs of residents, businesses, visitors, and public agencies by providing parking studies that show how
to meet today's needs while laying a groundwork for the future.
Clients from coast to coast rely on us for realistic and creative parking solutions. We identify and prioritize an optimal mix of facility
development and parking management strategies; build consensus for cost - effective solutions; and make sure rates, regulations,
and ordinances reflect new land uses, support business development, and protect neighborhoods.
When studies are complete, clients can still count on Kimley -Horn to design and develop parking facilities and management
systems. From study to structure, we can help you effectively leverage the power of parking for the future of your community. We
develop parking facilities that provide a positive first encounter for shoppers,
employees, and visitors. Our facility engineers work seamlessly with our
traffic experts to design easy -in, easy -out parking where pedestrians are
safe, cars are easy to find, and traffic flows smoothly within the facility and on ffm
streets near the entrances and exits.
Our engineers design surface lots, on- street parking, and structures parking
to blend with their surroundings from historic sites to vibrant contemporary
malls so parking contributes not only to the convenience but to the ambience
of the area. We design parking facilities for the vehicles and uses they will
see, accounting for peaks in usage and traffic
flows, even on surrounding streets. We plan signs
and signals that make it simple even for first -time
visitors to get around. A pioneer in the integration
of parking facilities with business and office spaces,
we have helped create public/private partnerships Q
that cover operational costs, while our accurate
revenue forecasts have been the foundation for
many bond sales. We can also plan today's facility
with tomorrow's expansion in mind, so your positive
first encounter will result in a satisfied return
clientele, year after year.
