tSunny Isles Beach RFQ No. 14 -07 -02 Section 4: Approach & Methodology
Landscape P.rchtte=re
Section 4: Approach & Methodology
Approach to Organizational Management
The in -house team assigned to a City of Sunny Isles Beach remains committed to that project for its du-
ration. This system of continuity has resulted in an impressive record of successfully completed projects
by ORDA.
Quality, cost and schedule control are paramount throughout the duration of a project so, project teams
are structured for optimum communication between clients and designers. All key personnel have exten-
sive experience working on municipal projects similar in nature to the potential projects for the City of
Sunny Isles Beach. We continue to receive high marks from municipalities throughout Miami -Dade Coun-
ty. This combined experience insures an understanding and appreciation for the challenges to be faced
with municipal projects, as well as, a background in resolution of each of the challenges.
t The organizational structure at ORDA has been developed to offer hands on project management from
seasoned landscape architects that have extensive experience in working with municipalities. Our quality
control team and an uncompromising insistence on performance insures that all projects will be handled
in a consistent, professional, thorough and timely manner. ORDA's management approach is specifically
reflective of an attitude toward completing the tasks defined in any given scope of work.
1 The ORDA team understands that quality work achieved only through Total Quality Management. Each
member of the project team understands the overall goals and objectives of any project and their specif-
ic role in achieving them. ORDA trains each employee to consciously assure that their work achieves
project requirements, is free of defects, and meets the professional standards expected by the City of
Sunny Isles Beach. Bill O'Leary, a veteran in his field, will assure that total quality control is achieved for
all landscape architectural aspects and Kevin Richards in all construction related aspects of the projects
assigned.
Project Approach
1 O'Leary Richards Designs' success working with municipalities is built on years of experience listening
closely to clients. Because every site offers a unique set of challenges and opportunities, ORDA tailors its
design approach according to the owner's program, scope, timeline and budget while drawing on experi-
ence gained over 40 years of successfully completed projects. ORDA has the ability to meet desired
timelines and deadlines as evidenced in past performance. To have a successful project will require
close coordination with the City.
1 All projects are undertaken with the aim of creating innovative, sustainable environments by implement-
ing the best design ideals in real world situations. It is important that we create environments that rep-
resent the identity of our clients as well. Our synergistic design and management approach makes us the
primary choice for public projects. Landscape Architecture encompasses analysis, planning, design, man-
agement and stewardship of the natural and built environments. ORDA believes nature should be al-
1 lowed to permeate the built environment, seeing nature in the City as a necessity rather than a luxury.
Due to the harsh environment within public rights -of -way beachfront communities, the landscape design
should consider the selection of hardy and low maintenance vegetation. Florida friendly guidelines should
1 be followed by specifying drought tolerant native and indigenous plant material, water retaining soil
amendments and a low water consumption irrigation system. It is our philosophy to create enduring
landscapes that will last for generations. The City will benefit from ORDA's knowledge of sustainable
® principles as it has several projects that have achieved LEED certification.
IO'LEARY RICHARDS DtSIGN ASSOCIATES, INC. 33
