K &S has been fortunate to have been awarded several park and recreation projects.These projects cover a broad range of park and recreation aspects including: • Services - from programming and master planning through construction inspection; • Contracts - single parks to multiple concurrent projects; • Recreation - active and passive; • Existing sites conditions - undisturbed, developed, residential to commercial areas; and • Funding - capital improvements, bonds and grants. K &S landscape architectural staff has also completed several municipal facility projects. These projects include City Halls, Public Works Facilities and Fire Stations. The scope of services for these projects included preliminary studies, site planning, irrigation design, site amenities design, planting plans, tree preservation plans, development review approvals, and permitting. Examples of these projects include: • Lantana Municipal Beach Complex • Public Works Facility, Deerfield Beach • Fire Station No. 92, Sunrise • City of Marathon Fire Station • City of Marathon City Hall site • Miramar Town Center • Sunset Lakes Municipal Complex PROJECT DESCRIPTIONS Civil Water and Sewer Infrastructure Water Works 2011: The Water Works 2011 program was a $600 million water and sewer infrastructure program implemented by the City of Fort Lauderdale over a period of roughly 7 years. The intent of the program was to provide sewer service to septic neighborhoods and upgrade key components of an aging infrastructure. K& S was a primary provider of survey, utility design, utility locates, geotechnical analysis, modeling, design, permitting, and construction observation for several water /wastewater improvements throughout the City. We provided services within 20 neighborhoods, with improvements totaling over 50 miles of new gravity sewer, 19 new lift- stations, 19 miles of watermain, and 5 miles of forcemain. Designs included open cut and trenchless technologies for lines ranging from 6" to 60" mains. Stormwater Analysis River Oaks and Edgewood Stormwater Analysis: River Oaks and Edgewood are two single family communities within the City of Fort Lauderdale developed within 375 acres during the 1960's and 70's.
