REQUEST FOR QUALIFICATIONS NO. 14 -07 -02 Other Public Sector Experience Mr. Vargas has served as traffic consultant to the cities of Coral Springs, Sunrise, Tamarac, Miramar, Pembroke Pines, Oakland Park, Miami, North Miami Beach, Miami Beach, Homestead, Surfside, Miramar, Lauderdale -By- The -Sea, Pompano Beach, Hollywood, Key West, Ocala, and Destin. He has reviewed hundreds of traffic studies and site plans on behalf of municipalities. Mr. Vargas has also conducted work for Broward County and Port Everglades. Several public sector experiences are presented below: Broward County Judicial Complex: Mr. Vargas conducted all traffic- engineering assignments for the currently under - construction Broward County Courthouse. This work was undertaken on behalf of Broward County and was reviewed and approved by the City of Fort Lauderdale. The traffic evaluation was broken down into different phases, addressed traffic impacts during construction, parking impacts, and accounted for the many private sector developments currently under construction within Downtown Fort Lauderdale. Port Everglades: Mr. Vargas evaluated the existing and projected length of queues at the three entry points to Port Everglades. Moreover, he provided recommendations regarding the relocation of the security gate on Eisenhower Boulevard, including the traffic impacts during the busy port season and potential events at the Broward County Convention Center. Traffic Consultant for the City of Sunrise: Mr. Vargas serves as traffic consultant to the City of Sunrise. In this capacity, he assisted the city in convincing the developers of the Florida Panther's arena that the best location for the arena was next to the Sawgrass Mills (its current location). Furthermore, Mr. Vargas has been involved in reviewing most of the Sawgrass Mills expansions (DRI's), including Wannado City and Metropica projects. Mr. Vargas has been involved in the review process of numerous applications submitted to the City of Sunrise. These reviews have focused on traffic impacts created by the proposed projects, and site plan reviews. Traffic Enoineer for the Sistrunk Boulevard Streetscape Proiect: Mr. Vargas served as traffic engineer on one of Fort Lauderdale's most challenging traffic calming projects... Sistrunk Boulevard. Opposed by high -level Broward County professionals, this CRA project consisted of reducing the number of through lanes on Sistrunk Boulevard from four to two. Mr. Vargas had the difficult task of ensuring that due to the reduction in vehicular capacity, neighborhood traffic intrusion was not going to be a problem.
