New River /SR 84 Greenway. Flamingo Road Trail. Dixie <br />Highway /FEC Trail and the Griffin /Orange Drive Greenway. These greenways and trails comprise approximately <br />70 miles of a unique greenway system for Broward County. Since these greenways cross numerous <br />municipalities' boundaries. road rights -of -ways and portions are to be constructed with the SFWMD canal <br />rights -of -way, the approval and permitting of these greenways is ongoing and extensive. The landscape design <br />for all the greenways heavily utilized drought - tolerant, native plant material and was in conformance with the <br />Broward County Naturescape principles and the SFWMD Xeriscape guidelines.
