• Large scale projects that require heavy machinery should be conducted <br />outside of marine turtle nesting season. <br />• Annual inspection events should be conducted thereafter with <br />maintenance activities provided on an as -needed basis. <br />Properties with Dunes that need to be Restored or <br />Reconfigured <br />Management Recommendations <br />• Remove non-native plant species. Large barren areas after removal should <br />be replanted with species selected from the Recommended Palette <br />provided to prevent erosion or recolonization by non-native plant species <br />• Plant sea oats or other pioneer zone species in areas not yet colonized by <br />dune species to reduce patchiness <br />• Prune or limb -up tree species as necessary to provide window -pane views <br />• Modify or retrofit access points to a 451 angle. <br />• Large scale maintenance events should be conducted between November <br />1st and March 1st (outside of marine turtle nesting season), as heavy <br />equipment will likely be required. It is preferred that the activities be <br />conducted in February, close to the beginning of Florida's wet season. <br />• Annual inspection events should be conducted thereafter with <br />maintenance activities provided on an as -needed basis. <br />Properties with a Functioning Dune with Minimal Exotic <br />Infestation <br />Management Recommendations <br />• Non-native species should be identified and removed. <br />• Infill any barren areas with species selected from the Recommended <br />Palette provided. <br />• Prune or limb -up tree species as necessary to provide window -pane views. <br />• Modify or retrofit access points to a 45* angle if needed. <br />• In areas where the vegetation has overgrown the existing beach access <br />points, trim back the vegetation to provide approximately 6 feet of <br />clearance. <br />
