FWC
FLORIDA FISH AND WILDLIFE CONSERVATION COMMISSION
Manages and regulates the state's fish and wildlife resources and enforces
related laws. As it pertains to beaches, FWC helps protect sea turtles and their
habitat. This includes reviewing permits for coastal construction and other beach
activities, commenting on land acquisition and management of nesting habitat,
evaluating the success of protection measures in the field, and administration of
permits for sea turtle research and rehabilitation.
Acknowledgement:
• City of Hollywood
• City of Hallandale Beach
• Miami Beach
• Town of Lauderdale by The Sea
• Town of Surfside
End Note:
The Master Plan is intended to be a living document adjusted or fine-tuned by
future elected officials or city staff as needed. Changing conditions such as level
rise, may require future adaptation scenarios. Based on the current predictions of
sea level rise, the Dune Master Plan should be evaluated every 5 years to assure it
provides the maximum protection from storm surge and beach erosion.
