LANGA/V <br />FORT LAUDERDALE /HOLLYWOOD INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT <br />T-4 REMEDIATION <br />SERVICES: <br />• Work Plan Development <br />• Geotechnical Evaluation of Soil <br />Conditions <br />• Soil Pre - characterization <br />• Well Installation and Abandonment <br />• Open- excavation Air - sparging <br />• Environmental Observation During <br />Construction <br />LOCATION: <br />Fort Lauderdale, Florida <br />CLIENT: <br />Cummings - Balfour Beatty <br />Langan is contracted by Cummings - Balfour Beatty, the CM- <br />at -risk, to provide environmental services during utility <br />construction in a petroleum- impacted area near the western <br />gate of Fort Lauderdale /Hollywood International Airport. <br />The services include: <br />• Characterizing soil before excavation to determine <br />which soil can be reused and which soil must be <br />removed for off -site disposal <br />• Providing a geotechnical evaluation of soil conditions; <br />• Developing a comprehensive work plan for the entire <br />project <br />• Developing a baseline of groundwater quality in <br />advance of construction <br />• Abandoning monitoring wells in the construction <br />footprint <br />• Observing the removal and segregation of impacted <br />soil <br />• Sparging the open excavation to remove volatile <br />petroleum compounds <br />• Reinstalling and sampling monitoring wells after <br />construction <br />The project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2014. <br />Because this is an active airport, much of the work has to be <br />done at night when airport traffic is lighter. <br />26 <br />
