18 <br />F. In the event that a ramp is utilized for egress and/or entry, the ramp shall be <br />designed with cleats or other surface treatment on the top surface to prevent s l i p p i n g . <br /> <br /> <br />Exposure to vehicular traffic <br /> <br />A. When an employee is working near the right -of-way, or in the right -of-way, or at <br />any location where vehicles are moving about, the employee shall wear a warning vest <br />which has reflecting material or is otherwise made of material which is highly visible. <br /> <br />8. When a loader or backhoe or other heavy equipment is lifting or depositing site <br />materials, employees shall stay a safe distance away from the equipment. At all times the <br />employee must be aware that the area beneath any kind of lifted load is dangerous and must <br />be evacuated. The area surrounding the lifted load area is also dangerous. Materials can <br />spill out of the load and cause injury. At all times, employees are asked to remain a safe <br />distance from and pay attention to a lifted load. <br /> <br />C. Operators of heavy equipment may r emain in their cabs when their equipment is <br />being loaded or unloaded. If any operator believes that the equipment involved in the <br />loading or unloading is unsafe in any way, the operator should cease the activity and <br />notify their Superintendent immediately. <br /> <br />D. RIC-MAN recognizes the danger in operating equipment close to open <br />excavations. During these operations, the operators shall make the necessary <br />arrangements to safeguard against injury. These arrangements shall include the use of <br />barricades, hand or mechanical signals, or stop logs. Where possible, operators must <br />demand that the grade run away from the excavation . <br /> <br /> <br />Update, June 2019. <br /> <br /> Equipment must keep in good working order, if it is damaged, defective or not <br />running right, tell your supervisor right away. <br />Never jump from equipment or the cab of a van or truck. always maintain 3 points of <br />contact when getting in/out of equipment.
