26 <br /> <br />accordance with OSHA standards or in accordance with written data approved by a <br />registered engineer, RIC -MAN may opt to proceed with a design of a support system <br />approved by a registered professional engineer. <br /> <br />B. The design, as opposed to data, approved by a registered professional engineer <br />shall be written and shall include the following: <br />1. the design angle of the slopes which the registered professional engineer <br />has app roved; <br />2. the design configurations which were approved by the e n g i n e e r ; <br />3. the identity of the engineer approving the d e s i g n . <br /> <br />At least one copy of the design approved by the registered professional engineer <br />shall be maintained at the job site while the e xcavation is taking place. After the <br />excavation is complete, a copy of the design approved by the registered professional <br />engineer shall be maintained at the principal office of RIC-MAN. <br /> <br />Support System <br /> <br />A RIC-MAN shall select & construct support and shield systems for the protection of <br />its employees. In the e vent an employee believes that a protecti ve system as described <br />above is necessary for safety in an e xcavation, and no protective system is evident, the <br />employee shall immediately inform the superintendent of this concern. <br /> <br />B. Where necessary. RIC-MAN shall select a support system consistent with <br />Appendices A and C of this manual. <br /> <br />C. Where RIC-MAN selects a support system or shield system that is drawn from <br />manufacturer's tabulated data, the support systems shall be in accordance with all <br />specifications, recommendations, and limitations issued or made by the manufacturer. Any <br />deviation from the specifications or recommendations of the manufacturer shall only be <br />implemented with written consent from the manufacturer. RIC-MAN shall maintain a record <br />of all written consent to any deviations of the manufacturer at the excavation job site while <br />the excavation is in progress. When the excavation work is completed, a copy of the consent <br />to deviation shall be maintained in the principal offices of RIC-MAN. <br /> <br />D. If RIC-M AN ' s representatives choose to design a support system using data not <br />obtained from OSHA regulations or manufacturer specifications, RIC-MAN shall <br /> <br /> <br />
