29 <br />G. Employees are not permitted to excavate material to a level greater than two <br />(2) feet below the bottom of the members of a support system. However, employees shall <br />not excavate below the bottom of the support system if there is any indication that the trench <br />is open to a possible loss of soil from behind or below the bottom of the members of a <br />support system. Moreover, employees shall not excavate below the bottom of the members <br />of a support system unle ss the support system is designed to resist the forces calculated <br />for the full depth of the trench . In all events, employees shall seek the consent of a RIC- <br />MAN Competent Person before excavating any material below the bottom of the members <br />of a support system. <br /> <br /> <br />H. Employees who are working on sloping and benching systems shall not work at <br />levels above other employees unless employees below are adequately protected from the <br />hazard of falling, rolling or sliding material or equipment. <br /> <br />Shield System <br /> <br />A. RIC-MAN shall not install any shield systems which cannot bear the loads which the <br />system was designed to withstand. If an employee believes or observes that a member of a <br />shield system itself is being compromised by a condition at the site, the employee shall inform <br />the supervisor immediately. <br /> <br />B. Employees shall install a shield system in a manner to restrict lateral or other hazardous <br />movements of the system in the event of the application of sudden lateral loads. The installation <br />of the shield system shall be under the direction of a RIC-MAN Competent Person as defined by <br />OSHA standards. <br /> <br />C. Employees shall not enter shields when shields are being installed, removed, or moved <br />vertically. <br /> <br />D. Employees may excavate up to two (2) feet below the bottom of a shield. However, <br />there shall be no excavation below the bottom of a shield if the shield is not designed to resist <br />the forces calculated for the fill depth of the trench. Moreover, employees shall not excavate <br />below a shield if there is any indication of a possible loss of soil from behind or below the bottom <br />of the shield. In all events, employees installing shields shall not excavate below the bottom of <br />the shield unless the employee has obtained consent from a RIC-MAN Competent Person as <br />defined by the OSHA regulations. <br /> <br /> <br />E. Employees are not permitted to excavate material to a level greater than two <br />
