The Mayor is elected "at large" and is elected for a four-year <br />Mayor <br />term. <br />Alex Lama <br />Vice Mayor Services Provided <br />Jerry Joseph <br />Commissioner The City of Sunny Isles Beach provides a full range of municipal services: public <br />safety, ocean rescue, building, planning and zoning, code compliance, <br />Fabiola Stuyvesant transportation, maintenance of roads and parking facilities, stormwater, parks, <br />Commissioner recreation and cultural programs, general government and administrative <br />Jeniffer Viscarra services. <br />Commissioner <br />Fire protection, water and sewer utilities, education and welfare services are <br />® provided by other units of government whose activities are not included in the <br />Stan Morris accompanying financial statements. <br />City Manager <br />Accounting and Internal Control <br />Mauricio Betancur <br />City Clerk, CMC Management of the City is responsible for establishing and maintaining an <br />internal control structure designed to ensure that the assets of the City are <br />protected from loss, theft or misuse and to ensure that adequate accounting data <br />is compiled to allow for the preparation of financial statements in conformity <br />with GAAP. The internal control structure is designed to provide reasonable, <br />but not absolute, assurance that the objectives are met. The concept of <br />reasonable assurance recognizes that: (1) the cost of a control should not exceed <br />the benefits likely to be derived; and (2) the valuation of costs and benefits <br />requires estimates and judgments by management. <br />Single Audit <br />As a recipient of federal, state, and county financial assistance, the City is also <br />responsible for ensuring that an adequate internal control structure is in place to <br />ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations to those programs.
