<br />THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />PROJECT NO. 21-1011 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX <br /> <br /> <br />Project No. 21-1011 November 2024 027700 -3 <br />does not damage the curb and to saw the transverse contraction joints as <br />soon as the curb has hardened to the degree that tearing and raveling are <br />not excessive and before uncontrolled shrinkage cracking begins. If, at any <br />time, uncontrolled cracking occurs, the Contractor will be required to <br />modify his methods. <br />3. Transverse Expansion Joints <br />a. One half-inch expansion joints shall be formed by placing preformed joint <br />filler at the ends of each radius return, around ail structures, and at intervals <br />not exceeding 500 feet. <br />B. Curing <br />1. After the finishing operations have been completed and as soon as the concrete <br />has hardened sufficiently that marring of the surface will not occur, the entire <br />surface and the edges of the newly placed concrete shall be covered and cured with <br />membrane curing compound. <br />2. Curing compound shall be uniformly applied to the surfaces to be cured, in a single <br />coat, continuous film, at the rate of 1 gallon to not more than 200 square feet, by <br />a mechanical sprayer. <br />3. Curing compound shall not be applied during periods of rainfall. Curing compound <br />shall not be applied to the inside faces of joints to be sealed. Should the film <br />become damaged from any cause within the required curing period, the damaged <br />portions shall be repaired immediately with additional compound. Upon removal <br />of side forms the sides of the slabs exposed shall immediately be coated to provide <br />a curing treatment equal to that provided for the surface. <br />END OF SECTION
