THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />PROJECT NO. 21-1011 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX <br /> <br />Project No. 21-1011 November 2024 028200 Asbestos Abatement-4 <br />b. The Subcontractor shall have a minimum of five (5) years’ experience as <br />an approved asbestos abatement subcontractor. If requested, the <br />Subcontractor shall provide the names and locations of 5 projects of <br />similar size and scope that he has completed within the previous five <br />years. <br />c. The Subcontractor must hold a current and valid asbestos license issued <br />by the Florida Contractors State Licensing Board (CSLB). <br />d. The Subcontractor must hold a current and valid Certificate of <br />Registration for Asbestos-Related Work issued by the Florida Department <br />of Industrial Relations, Division of Occupational Safety and Health <br />(OSHA). <br />e. The Subcontractor must hold all insurance and bonds as required by <br />other sections of this specification, and maintain as valid and current for <br />the duration of the project. <br /> <br />2. Qualifications of Asbestos Abatement Personnel: <br /> <br />a. All work shall be completed utilizing fully qualified persons who are <br />trained, experienced, and knowledgeable in the proper techniques and <br />procedures for asbestos abatement activities covered by this Section. <br />b. Asbestos Workers: All workers performing asbestos related work shall <br />be currently certified as AHERA asbestos workers. <br />c. Asbestos in Construction Contractor Supervisor: Currently certified as an <br />AHERA Asbestos Contractor Supervisor. <br /> <br />3. Qualifications of Analytical Laboratory: <br /> <br />a. The subcontractor shall submit asbestos air samples to an analytical <br />laboratory that is accredited by the American Industrial Hygiene <br />Association’s (AIHA) Industrial Hygiene Laboratory Accreditation Program <br />(IHLAP). The subcontractor shall choose another AIHA accredited lab if <br />their current AIHA accredited lab does not maintain accreditation <br />throughout the duration of this project. <br /> <br />B. Regulatory Requirements: All asbestos removal work shall be performed in accordance <br />with requirements of Federal, state, and local regulations as follows: <br /> <br />1. U.S. Department of Labor, Occupational Safety and Health <br />Administration (OSHA): <br /> <br />a) Asbestos Standard: Title 29, Part 1910, Section 1001 <br />b) Respiratory Protection: Title 29, Part 1910, Section 134 <br />c) Construction Industry: Title 29, Part 1926, Section 1101 <br />d) Hazard Communication: Title 29, Part 1910, Section 1200 <br /> <br />b. U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA): <br /> <br />c. Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA): <br /> <br />a) Title 40, Part 260 to 265
