Cover and protect windows, doors, and walls that are adjacent to asbestos work <br />areas. <br /> <br />7. Water used during this project shall be collected and prevented from entering <br />storm water drains. <br />8. Eating, drinking, smoking, chewing tobacco or gum, or applying cosmetics is <br />prohibited in the work area. <br /> <br />B. Personnel: <br /> <br />1. Asbestos Contractor Supervisor (Competent Person): <br /> <br />a. Provide an on-site, full-time Asbestos in Construction Supervisor (or <br />Supervisors) to ensure that the worker protection program and <br />engineering controls are effective. The Supervisor is also responsible for <br />understanding LBNL waste management policies. <br /> <br />2. Asbestos Workers: The Subcontractor shall communicate information concerning <br />asbestos hazards according to the requirements of the Hazard Communication <br />Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200), including but not limited to the requirements <br />concerning warning signs and labels, material safety data sheets (MSDS), and <br />employee information and training. <br /> <br />3. Respiratory Protection Program: Comply with ANSI Z88.2 - 1992 "Practices for <br />Respiratory Protection" and OSHA 29 CFR 1926.62. <br /> <br />a. Require that respiratory protection be used at all times when there is any <br />possibility of disturbance of asbestos containing material. <br />b. Down grading respiratory protection to a lower-level protection factor is <br />not allowed even with objective data to support the down grade. <br /> <br />4. Protective Clothing: <br /> <br />a. The following clothing shall be worn by all asbestos workers in the work <br />area. <br /> <br />a) Disposable Coveralls with head and shoe covers (except for <br />welders): Provide a sufficient number for all required changes for <br />all workers in the work area. Dispose of coveralls as clothing <br />waste at the end of each day. <br />b) Gloves: Chemical resistant gloves shall be used when using <br />solvents to remove mastic material. Gloves shall be secured to <br />coveralls using duct tape to protect arms and hands. Do not <br />remove gloves from the work area. <br />c) Goggles, safety glasses, or face shields: Shall be worn by all <br />workers involved in scraping, spraying, stripping, or any other <br />activity that may potentially cause eye or face injury. <br /> <br />5. Temporary Shower Facilities: Shall be used in accordance with subsection 2.02 <br />(C) and subsection 3.08 (C) of this section. <br /> <br />3.2 GENERAL PROCEDURES
