The Subcontractor shall not tear down / remove the negative pressure enclosure or <br />negative air machines until verbal notice has been given to the Subcontractor by the <br />University’s Project Manager. <br /> <br />3.8 STORAGE OF WASTE MATERIALS <br /> <br />A. Waste Evaluation: The materials collected from the cleaning operations must be <br />evaluated to determine if the materials are hazardous and require special handling. The <br />Subcontractor is responsible for segregating waste as it is generated and labeling all <br />waste containers appropriately. Stored waste must be labeled with the accumulation <br />date, type of waste, and area from which it was generated. The waste will be stored in <br />designated areas selected by the Project Manager. The Project Manager must contact <br />LBNL Waste Management (486-6825) for guidance on designating areas. Load all <br />asbestos-containing waste material in disposal bags or leak-tight drums which were <br />procured by the LBNL Waste Management Group. All materials are to be contained in <br />one of the following: <br /> <br />1. Two properly sealed 6-mil disposal bags labeled with a LBNL hazardous waste <br />label in addition to the required OSHA specified asbestos warning label. <br /> <br />2. Two properly sealed 6-mil disposal bags contained in a metal open head drum <br />procured by the LBNL Waste Management Group. Drum must be labeled with a <br />LBNL hazardous waste label in addition to the required OSHA specified asbestos <br />warning label. <br /> <br />3. Wrapped in 6-mil polyethylene sheeting and sealed with duct tape. Wrapped <br />waste must be properly labeled with a LBNL hazardous waste label in addition to <br />the required OSHA specified asbestos warning label. <br /> <br />B. If a dumpster is to be located on site for the duration of the project, arrange location of <br />the dumpster with the Project Manager and the LBNL Waste Management Group. <br /> <br />1. Do not store containerized materials outside of the work area. Take containers <br />from the work area directly to a temporary storage location arranged by the <br />Project Manager and LBNL Waste Management. All open dumpsters are <br />prohibited for any construction debris. Take special care in transporting the <br />waste materials from the location of generation to the storage facility. Waste <br />shall be removed from work area at times selected to minimize contacts with <br />tenants. The path from the work area to the storage locations shall be selected <br />to be the shortest possible distance. <br /> <br />C. Treatment and Testing of Project Waste Water: The handling and treatment of project <br />waste water must conform with all State and local regulations. Project waste water <br />includes shower water and waste water from cleaning operations. <br /> <br />1. The Subcontractor shall not discharge waste water containing asbestos into a <br />community sanitary sewer as per the requirements of the San Francisco Bay <br />Basin Water Quality Control Plan. All waste water shall be discharged into a <br />sanitary filter. Do not discharge any waste water on ground or soil. Filter water <br />as necessary to meet local requirements. <br />
