Waterstop shall be manufactured from chloroprene rubber and modified <br />chloroprene rubber with hydrophilic properties. Waterstop shall have a delay <br />coating to inhibit initial expansion due to moisture present in fresh concrete. The <br />minimum expansion ratio of modified chloroprene shall be not less than 2 to 1 <br />volumetric change in distilled water at 70 degrees F (21 degrees C). <br /> <br />3. Hydrophilic Waterstop shall meet the following minimum requirements: <br /> <br /> <br />Property Value ASTM Standard <br />Physical Property, Chloroprene <br />Tensile Strength-min (psi) 1275 D 412 <br />Ultimate Elongation-min (percent) 350 D 412 <br />Hardness, Shore A 55 +/- 5 D 2240 <br />Physical Property, Modified Chloroprene <br />Tensile Strength-min (psi) 300 D 412 <br />Ultimate Elongation-min (percent) 600 D 412 <br />Hardness, Shore A 55 +/- 5 D 2240 <br /> <br /> <br />4. Bonding agent for hydrophilic Waterstop shall be the manufacturer's recommended <br />adhesive for wet, rough concrete. <br />C. Other Types of Waterstop: <br /> <br />1. When types of Waterstop not listed above are indicated, they shall be subjected <br />to the same requirements as those listed herein. <br />2.5 JOINT SEALANT FOR WATER BEARING JOINTS: <br />A. Joint sealant shall be polyurethane polymer designed for bonding to concrete, which is <br />continuously submerged in water. No material will be acceptable which has an <br />unsatisfactory history as to bond or durability when used in the joints of water retaining <br />structures. <br />B. Joint sealant material shall meet the following requirements (73 degrees F and 5percent <br />R.H.): <br />Requirement Value ASTM Standard <br />Work Life (minutes) 45 - 180 ----- <br />Time to Reach 20 Shore "A" Hardness (at 77 <br />degrees F, 200 gr quantity) - max (hours) 24 ----- <br />Ultimate Hardness 20 - 45 Shore "A" D 2240 <br />Tensile Strength - min (psi) 175 D 412 <br />Ultimate Elongation - min (percent) 400 D 412 <br />Tear Resistance - min (pounds per inch of thickness) 75 D 624 (Die C) <br />Color Light Gray -----
