THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />PROJECT NO. 21-1011 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX <br /> <br />Project No. 21-1011 November 20124 031500 Concrete Accessories-3 <br /> <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.1 EXAMINATION <br /> <br />A. Examine areas to be drilled to verify conditions of access, interferences, and existing <br />materials. <br /> <br />B. Locate existing reinforcing steel, which might interfere with drilling, with a suitable metal <br />detector. <br /> <br />3.2 INSTALLATION <br /> <br />A. Holes for anchors and dowels shall be located to miss existing reinforcing steel wherever <br />practical. <br /> <br />1. Where reinforcement is encountered and anchor cannot be shifted, install wedge <br />type anchor with minimum 4 anchor diameter embedment above bottom of <br />reinforcement. <br /> <br />B. Hole diameter shall be as specified in the applicable ICC Report for the size and type of <br />anchor or dowel to be installed. Hole depth shall be as necessary to obtain the <br />embedment specified on the drawings. <br /> <br />1. Torque controlled mechanical anchors installed in applications to resist tension <br />due to gravity or seismic forces shall have an embedment equal to 8 anchor <br />diameters, wherever practical. <br /> <br />C. Holes shall be prepared as specified in the applicable ICC Report. At a minimum, holes <br />shall be cleaned of all dust and debris prior to installation of anchors or dowels. Cleaning <br />shall consist of removal of debris with oil free compressed air (90 psi (632 gr/cm²), <br />minimum), brushing of the hole twice in a twisting motion with a nylon brush and <br />removal of debris with oil free compressed air (90 psi (632 gr/cm²), minimum). <br /> <br />D. Wedge-type anchors shall be installed to the minimum torque specified in the applicable <br />ICC Report. <br /> <br />3.3 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL <br /> <br />A. The Testing Laboratory will: <br /> <br />1. Special Inspect installation of anchors in accordance with applicable ICC <br />Evaluation Report, where special inspection is indicated on Contract Documents <br />or where Subcontractor's design engineer has used ICC anchor capacities that <br />require Special Inspection. <br /> <br />a. Subcontractor will reimburse University for cost of Special Inspection, <br />where anchors are sized by Subcontractor's design engineer using ICC <br />Special Inspection values. <br />
