<br />THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />PROJECT NO. 21-1011 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX <br /> <br />Project No. 21-1011 November 2024 093000 Tiling93000-4 <br /> <br />2.6 MISCELLANEOUS MATERIAL <br /> <br />A. Latex Underlayment: Quick set type, as recommended by membrane manufacturer, as <br />required to provide positive drainage to floor drains. <br /> <br />B. Expansion Joints <br />1. If not indicated on the Drawings, expansion joints shall be installed in accordance <br />with the Tile Council of North America, Inc., Handbook for Ceramic Tile <br />Installation, latest edition, as follows: <br /> <br />a. Interior: 20’ to 25’ in each direction. <br />b. Exterior: 8’ to 12’ in each direction. <br />c. Interior tilework exposed to direct sunlight or moisture: 8’ to 12’ in each <br />direction. <br />d. Where tilework abuts restraining surfaces such as perimeter walls, <br />dissimilar floors, curbs, columns, pipes, ceilings, and where changes <br />occur in backing materials. <br />e. All expansion, control, construction, and cold joints in the structure shall <br />continue through the tilework including such joints at vertical surfaces. <br />f. Joints through tilework directly over structural joints shall never be <br />narrower than the structural joint. <br />g. Joints at perimeter of each space where no field joints are detailed. <br /> <br />C. Ceramic Tile Accessories <br />1. “Schluter-SCHIENE”, aluminum, tile termination strip. Use at all edges adjacent <br />to different flooring materials. Height shall match adjacent flooring materials. <br />2. “Schluter-RENO”, aluminum, stepless termination strip. Use at all edges where <br />the tile is higher than the adjoining different floor materials. <br /> <br />2.7 CRACK ISOLATION MEMBRANE <br /> <br />A. General: Manufacturer's standard product that complies with ANSI A118.12 for <br />standard performance and is recommended by the manufacturer for the application <br />indicated. Include reinforcement and accessories recommended by manufacturer. <br /> <br />B. Corrugated Polyethylene (Uncoupling membrane): Corrugated polyethylene with <br />dovetail-shaped corrugations and with anchoring fleece laminated to its underside; <br />1/8-inch nominal thickness. <br />1. Basis of design: Ditra crack isolation membrane by Schluter. <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.1 INSPECTION <br /> <br />A. Prior to installing tile, inspect surfaces to receive tile. Do not proceed with installation <br />until such defects or conditions have been corrected. <br />1. Verify walls have no efflorescence
