THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH <br />PROJECT NO. 21-1011 <br />BUILDING DEPARTMENT RELOCATION TO ANNEX <br /> <br />Project No. 21-1011 November 2024 022300 -2 <br />for testing and cooperate fully to allow tests to be taken. Failure to meet the specified <br />density will require the CONTRACTOR to recompact and retest those areas directed by the <br />ENGINEER. The DISTRICT shall deduct cost of retesting from monies due the <br />CONTRACTOR. <br /> <br />1.9 INSPECTION COORDINATION: <br /> <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall provide access to the WORK for the ENGINEER as requested for <br />inspection. The Contractor shall provide 48 hours notice of its intention to begin new <br />WORK activities. <br /> <br />1.10 WARRANTY: (Not Used) <br /> <br />PART 2 - PRODUCTS <br /> <br />2.1. MATERIALS FOR BACKFILL: <br /> <br />A. The CONTRACTOR shall use all suitable materials resulting from the excavation to the <br />extent practicable in the construction of the roadway and such other phases as shown on <br />the drawings or required for completion of the work, as directed by the ENGINEER. <br />Materials shall conform to FDOT Section 120-7.2 and shall contain no muck, stumps, roots, <br />brush, organic matter, rubbish or other material that will not compact into a suitable and <br />enduring roadbed. <br /> <br />PART 3 - EXECUTION <br /> <br />3.1 PREPARATION <br /> <br />A. Clearing: The construction site shall be cleared of all obstructions and vegetation, including <br />large roots and undergrowth, within 5 feet of the lines of excavation, in accordance with <br />Section 31 11 00. All debris created by this clearing operation shall be hauled from the site <br />and disposed of by the Contractor. <br /> <br />B. Removals: Complete all removals within the lines of excavation prior to beginning <br />excavation. Where required, all existing shrubbery, trees, grass, sprinklers, fences signs, <br />mailboxes, structures, sidewalks, curbs, utility poles, or structures subject to damage <br />resulting from the excavation should be transplanted, relocated, braced, shored, or <br />otherwise protected and preserved. <br /> <br />3.2 EXCAVATION <br /> <br />A. The Contractor shall perform all excavation of every description and of whatever substances <br />encountered, to the dimensions and depths shown on the approved plans, but in all cases <br />as required for construction, and as specified herein. All excavations shall be made by open <br />cut. <br /> <br />B. When the walls of the excavations are to be kept vertical and in order to protect the safety <br />of workmen, the general public, this or other work or structures, or excavation walls, or <br />pipe installation including materials encountered in the excavation which have a tendency <br />to slough or flow into the excavation, undermine the banks, weaken the overlying strata, <br />or are otherwise rendered unstable by the excavation operation shall be retained by steel
