LUNACQN
YOUR C OH9'RUCTI0H PARTNER
Safety Program Overview. Lunacon has implemented extensive policies, procedures, and
incentives designed to provide a safe and healthy work environment for all our employees,
subcontractors, and customers. Here is a general discussion and minimum details on Lunacon's
Safety Program. Our goal on everyjob is to ensure that allwork is completed safely, with appropriate
tools, equipment, and methods as implemented in complete compliance with the US Army Corps of
Engineers Safety and Health Requirements (USACE) Manual (EM385-1-1, Revised November 2003).
This goal takes priority over scheduling concerns. Any task that the Safety Manager or his designee
observes being performed in an unsafe manner or without appropriate safety precautions will be
stopped until proper safety procedures can be instituted. Potential hazards are identified and
systematically reduced or eliminated as much as possible. Environmental hazards are given extra
consideration to verify that all dangerous procedures and materials are handled by Occupational
Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) guidelines.
Every effort is made to substitute safe alternatives for potentially hazardous materials and methods.
Safety compliance is a primary condition of continued employment and an integral component of
our annual employee performance evaluations, which inform decisions regarding income and
position advancements within the organization.
Christopher McKenize is the Lunacon Safety Manager. He is responsible for certifying that all
workers know proper safety procedures. He will conduct weekly safety training sessions to ensure
that everyone understands the dangers and hazards of the work in progress and that all site workers
are familiar with the safe operation and handling of equipment and materials. We require that
subcontractors maintain the same level of education as all employees in all jobs. Health and safety
inspections are held regularlywhile a project is in progress. We publish and maintain a Safety Plan
for all our employees and subcontractors. The goals of the Safety Plan are to minimize the risk of
injury on the job, reduce property damage, and enforce compliance with all laws, codes, and
guidelines. Our Safety Plan includes education in specific job-related tasks as well as general,
continuing safety training. The plan outlines methods to detect, correct, and prevent unsafe
practices and hazardous conditions. The plan also provides information on supplying and
adequately using protective equipment and safety mechanisms and establishes a regular tool and
equipment maintenance schedule.
All subcontractors are also shown the location of alt emergency equipment and Material Safety Data
Sheets (MSDS), telephones, and evacuation routes. Standards in housekeeping, protective safety
equipment, weekly safety meetings, fire protection equipment, and treating, reporting, and
investigating injuries are also outlined in Lunacon's Safety Plan. Also included are safe procedures
for all construction activities by CSI category. Lunacon's Safety Plan is included as a compliance
document with our Employee Handbook and as a referenced specification in all subcontracts. A
copy of his resume is included in this section. The assigned onsite staff will be responsible for our
Corporate Safety Program and the safety of all field activities. The Site Safety and Health Officer wiLL
be responsible for managing safety for all field operations on the site (s) with support from the Site
Superintendent. They will conduct preparatory Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) with all
subcontractors and conduct daily safety inspections. They can shut down any work activities if any
safety standards are violated. They wiLL be responsible to the and Lunacon for the overall safety of
the project(s) and have complete authority and responsibility to shut the job down if OSHA Safety
Standards are not being met. In summary, on all projects, our corporate principles require full
Lunacon Engineering Group Corp dba.
