RESOLUTION NO. 2025 - 506 I <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COMMISSION OF THE CITY OF SUNNY ISLES BEACH, <br />FLORIDA, APPROVING A FIRST AMENDMENT TO THE MASTER SERVICES <br />AGREEMENT WITH AXON ENTERPRISES, INC., FOR THE PURCHASE OF A TWO <br />(2) DRONES AS A FIRST RESPONDER PROGRAM, AND A COUNTER DRONE <br />DEFENSE SYSTEM, IN AN AMOUNT NOT TO EXCEED ONE MILLION FIFTY-FOUR <br />THOUSAND SIX HUNDRED SIXTY-SEVEN DOLLARS AND TWENTY CENTS <br />($1,054,667.20), ATTACHED HERETO AS EXHIBIT "A"; AUTHORIZING THE CITY <br />MANAGER TO DO ALL THINGS NECESSARY TO EFFECTUATE THIS RESOLUTION; <br />PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. <br />WHEREAS, the safety of residents, visitors, and stakeholders of the City of Sunny Isles <br />Beach (the "City") is of paramount importance; and <br />WHEREAS, on January 16th, 2025, via Resolution No. 2025-3775, the City Commission <br />approved the purchase of a drone as a first responder program (the "Drone Program") from <br />Axon Enterprises, Inc. (the "Vendor") to assist its officers when responding to emergency calls; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, since its inception, the Drone Program has been valuable in providing police <br />officers with aerial assistance when responding to emergencies; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's Police Department ("SIBPD") wishes to add two (2) drones <br />("Additional Drones") to the Drone Program; and <br />WHEREAS, in recent years, there has been an increase in operation of drones by the <br />general public, raising safety and security concerns; and <br />WHEREAS, SIBPD wishes to implement a counter drone defense system ("Dedrone <br />System") to assist its officers in detecting and tracking drones that pose a threat to the public's <br />welfare; and <br />WHEREAS, the Vendor has provided the City with a quote for the purchase of the <br />Additional Drones and Dedrone System and related equipment and training; and <br />WHEREAS, the City will utilize the pricing and terms under Sourcewell Contract No. <br />101223-AXN;and <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to section 62-13(I) of the City's Code of Ordinances, <br />purchases made through intergovernmental cooperative purchasing arrangements or <br />purchasing consortiums organized as a corporation not for profit whose members are <br />governmental entities, provided that such cooperative purchasing arrangements or <br />consortiums provide for a competitive process to select a vendor are exempt from the City's <br />competitive bidding requirements; and <br />@BCL@EC2D1486 Page 1 of 2 271 <br />
